I thought I heard "between 8 and 9 million" but that was right before I got out of my car to go into work so I could have heard it wrong.

You may be right. I'm hearing the news second hand.

If I’m Sabres I dig in at 8.25.

I can’t see anyone giving skinner 9.5 for 7 years on the open market.

Maybe you don't recognize what you're doing here.

"We should trade him if we aren't going to compete in the next three years."

Jack is an essential component of our ability to compete in the next three years.

If we trade him, that automatically produces the non-competitive result.

God Damn is right.

this team sucks

all options should be considered to improve this team short term and long term

your blinded by the banners hanging up high at key arena

I would expect this from some 20 something, not someone who has seen the same crap I have seen for over 40 years

the sabres have been an embarrassment to the NHL for far too long

Kessel would still be drinking from the goalies water bottle as Skinner and Eichel are already playing tic tac toe in front of the opposing goalie.

Friedman said the offer that is on the table is 8-9M... not sure where WGR pulled the 8.25 from but they riffed that entire report from Homie I presume.

It makes sense.

8.5 is fine too.

I can’t see anyone paying skinner over 9 for 7 years.

8.25 in Buffalo is 9.5 anywhere else with the 1 less year.

8.5 is 9.75 anywhere else.

Unless a team comes in and offers 11 per for 2-3 years, which I also can’t see.

At the same time, do you really see a realistic trade involving Eichel that makes this team better? Other than a McDavid for Eichel swap where both teams do it for the sake of change, I don't. Even then, I don't know if it improves this team enough.

The reality is, pretty much every trade involving Eichel would make this team worse.

***** IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - HB MOCK DRAFT *****

Jan Levine is running another Mock Draft similarly to the one she ran last year on her Blog Page.
The picks are made by Posters who volunteered to do so about 2 weeks ago or so.

I was selected, along with another HB-er, JerryJ22 to represent the Sabres this year.

Jerry and I have agreed that we want to make this inclusive of the fine Posters here on Micheals Blog.

Jerry and I will work through the Process of trying to gain consensus of you ALL.
I see it going something like this, but yet to be fully fleshed out:
1 - develop our Draft Board on a BPA basis
2 - identify our top 3 needs by position
3 - identify what would trigger us to trade the pickes (7 & 30/31)

With that plan, I would see us being able to react fairly quickly when our time to pick arrives...but still trying to reach consensus on our decision of what option to take.

The Draft date is still TBD, but could start soon or wait until the Playoffs are over then working pretty quickly (like 2 selections night, maybe 3 towards the end).

Again, trying to be inclusive, we would like your input on the Process outlined above...
THOUGHTS?

Get a moped, I drove one around when I lived in west palm beach.

Drive to the beach before sunset and smoke a fatty on the beach and watch the sun go down.

hughes plus

moves the rebuild around hughes dahlin, etc

I would only consider it if skinner walks and the plus is decent of course

I thought this team was turning the corner, and instead was the worst team in the nhl for the last 4 months

maybe the new coach can improve things, but most of this team has tuned out anyone behind the bench

I would think Hughes is more valuable then Eichel. Cheap contract for three years, why would NJ do that?

You mean like Hughes, a 2020 pick and a tad more? How does it make the team better short/long term to trade Eichel for someone with a lower ceiling, who may not even be the best American in this draft class?

And I know how much you love picks but I thought they'd try adding real talent this time around

Not a knock on you but I don't get this rationale... Wouldn't a 27 year old see smaller contracts as a benefit? That way he could get one more big pay day in the 32-33 age range?

In addition... the NY income tax rate is VERY high at 8.82. He could play in Philly/PIT and be taxed at 3.07, ARZ at 4.5, or for Chicago at 4.95. Could play for Vegas, Florida, Nashville, or Dallas with NO income tax.

In fact... the only teams that he would play for with a HIGHER tax rate would be ANA, LA, SJ, MIN, NJ, or any Canadian team WPG.

Allegedly per Friedman Sabres have offer on table it is in Skinners court.

Say Sabres offer is 8x8.25

Any other team would have to offer 9.5 over 7 to match/ beat the money.

- ImThatGuy

That's pretty much what I was saying last week when skinner was "signing today or tommorow "

"Did I know something different then all the media was reporting"

Why would skinner sign 2 weeks before the tampering period. Ain't gonna be 9 million.

Because in the NHL 32/33 year olds rarely see a big pay day.
