He can't trade for a guy, give the fans a taste of a 40 goal scorer, let him walk and expect to keep his job. He almost literally has to sign Skinner - jcragcrumple
Or get skinner to publicly say he’s lost his love of the game |

I guess you could be right, but I just can't picture him getting fired immediately if Jeffy leaves. He'll be given the season, at the very least.
If he is canned, what a nice situation to walk into as a GM. Good young players in place and a lot of cash coming off the cap after next season. |

You talk as if the fax machine was jammed. What if he wants over 10 mill? Is Botts supposed to break out the magic beads? |

He'll put the blame on himself for not getting the contract done, and say he has to do better in the future. |

No way. They're wishing they had SSTT. They would've swept the B's. |

Oh, absolutely not. He won't be fired this summer no matter what. But if he can't re-sign Skinner, it's gonna be a PR debacle, which will like shortly lead to his firing within 12 months, unless he pulls multiple rabbits out of his hat |

I worked a party for Thurman Thomas’ family on Sunday
Darryl Talley & Tasker were there
Good time - jdfitz77
1994, Thurman had a pretty rough game, me and a few of my buddies had seats right near the players tunnel. As Thurman came off, when of my A-Hole friends yells at him “Christ Thurman, you sucked today what the hell were you doing last night?” And Thurman looks up at him and yells “Bangin your mama.” |

I think it really depends on where he goes and how much he signs for. It could make things much worse or very understandable.

Here's where I disagree:
He traded for Skinner, knowing that Skinner was an impending UFA. He should have understood the market price to re-sign Skinner. Like I said, I really believe it's gonna get done. I think Botterill understands he can't afford to let Skinner walk |

That's true, but his value shot up by 30% this season. If he signs somewhere else for 9.5m+, I think most people will accept it. If he signs for 8.5m, he'll be crucified.

I like your positive outlook and i agree with the points you make. I was thinking about Mitts and I also think he is going to significantly improve next year. 20/20 is well within his reach. - SabreWest
That should be the minimum for Mitts
99% of ppl on here were expecting more than that from him this past season |

What if the pegulas said ok to the skinner trade?
Why would they fire botts?
Or they understood the circumstances for skinner leaving?
They get accused of micro managing , but somehow they wernt in on a big trade like this?
Maybe they thought he would like it here in buffalo. Playing with John Jack and being a difference maker.
The 8th year thing too. |

Not really @ you, 89, but here is to the larger convo.
A friend of mine is good friends with a former 2nd overall pick that some would say has had a disappointing career hampered with injuries. Went to his wedding and has been to his home in Idaho. Got him into red wine. Not Eichel or Reinhardt. Rhymes with Robby Byan.
Anyways, apparently Karlsson hates going out for dinner and being interrupted by annoying douche sens fans (are there any other type?) while eating in restaurants. Prefers more anonymity while he dines and not 34 douches walking up to him and asking for a selfie.
If his wife want to live close to home, and snaps the whip, I can see him going back to Ottawa. Montreal? Their rabid fan base is even more obnoxious and douchey.
Buffalo, despite its amount of douches, may be a good landing place for him. - Da_Cashman
All that makes it sound like Tampa is the best landing spot. |
