Kruegs speaking with media in person for first time tomorrow at 10. Yet another milestone to break Skinner signing news. Fans have been all but guaranteed it was going to happen for half the season. By far the most infuriating offense in this debacle if it doesn’t happen. |

I’m pro Botterill. If he loses Skinner and doesn’t make some serious moves I’ll be just about done |

If it doesn't happen, it'll be spun by management that it's fine, they're not disappointed, and we're all better off without him. That is their job after all. |

I don't think they're terribly worried about losing large numbers of customers. Support for the team remains extremely high no matter what record the Sabres have. |

That's true, but his value shot up by 30% this season. If he signs somewhere else for 9.5m+, I think most people will accept it. If he signs for 8.5m, he'll be crucified. - Lunaion
Then he perfectly played the sabres to artificially inflate his goal total and AAV by playing with Eichel, and Botterill shouldn't have traded for him without an extension in place.
Botterill painted himself into this corner. He has to close the deal in order to save face imo. No other way out. |

The Draft to really fall our way, but if Byram, Turcotte, Podkolzin, and somebody like Caufield or Zegras is taken, he would bring Speed/Strength/Explosiveness/
Dylan Cozens, C, Lethbridge (WHL): Big, strong and talented, Cozens is everything you want in a potential No. 1 center. . |
|
|
|
They never traded Perreault.
Just saying. - Powerslave
Funny you say that. There was a deal that was discussed, Lafleur for Perreault straight up around 1982 or 83. |

He'd be a worthy pick. Sounds like a high character guy from my limited research too. |

Here's where I disagree:
He traded for Skinner, knowing that Skinner was an impending UFA. He should have understood the market price to re-sign Skinner. Like I said, I really believe it's gonna get done. I think Botterill understands he can't afford to let Skinner walk - jcragcrumple
Starting to get the feeling that no matter how much Botterill offers, Skinner goes to the team he likes the best, even if it's for less than what we offered. If that happens, oh well. At least we only gave up Cliff Pu and a 3 picks for one great year of Skinner. I can live with that.

I tend to agree with you on that point. Hell of a ride. I never blamed Murray for taking a shot at Vesey either (god knows there's plenty of blame elsewhere in that tenure).
But I don't think Botterill keeps his job beyond next off-season without signing Skinner and without making a bunch of other moves as well.
As of right now, all he has to hang his hat on is Skinner and two years of 1st round tank picks |

Still see nothing wrong with having Dahlin, Mittelstadt, 7th OA, UPL and the most cap space in the NHL after next season. If you aren’t first, you're last. Look at the division we are in, we need as many high end skill players we can get our hand on. |

The fact he only traded a 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and Pu really softens the blow. You wouldn't have been able to rent him at the deadline from Carolina for that price.
Yeah, it's not great to not re-sign him, but it's not like the price paid for ROR from Colorado or Kane from Winnipeg, then you absolutely have to re-sign him or you're likely sh¡tcanned. |

Wouldn’t be the first player to perform in a contract year and be overpaid by this franchise. |
