If Skinner doesn't sign:
He turned ROR, Kane, Lehner, a 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and Pu
Into
Sobotka, Thompson, Montour, 30/31OA and a 2021 2nd
That's gotta be worth getting fired over - jcragcrumple
not sure lehner should be part of this.. he sucked and was broken.. no way we were going to get anything for him and he needed to move on.. |

They are not firing jbotts
Then you would complain about turn over in management - Boss34
"We are going into our 4th GM in the Pegula era!! We are the laughing stock of the NHL. We have non-hockey people making these decisions and it's terrible!!"

He'll get another year, I agree. Unless they're out of the playoffs before December. Then I bet Krueger becomes interim GM |

The point is he needs a win. Scandella/Pommer trade? Meh. Sheary/Hunwick? Meh. Kane? Meh. ROR? Hard loss. Montour? Maybe. Skinner TBD. |

If he is such an elite player why didn’t half the league lineup to trade for him this past offseason and we got him for spare parts ? Sure his NMC factored in, but the lack of demand for his services shows his league wide perception.
If we give him 8 years we will regret the last 4. Those last 4 years will be in Eichel and Dahlin’s primes. Nobody likes to think of the future, but it eventually becomes the present. |

How are you pinning Lehner and Kane on him? Lehner was mess and he took the best offer he could for Kane. Also, I think it is a safe bet that he was told to move ROR and he may have had to take the best offer he had.

They will probably want to get out from under it after Year 5 or 6. The guy is one of the better 5-on-5 scoring wingers in the league, and I doubt that changes much. The idea is to win a Championship before then. Obviously, they have a lot of work to do to get to that point, but that is what they should be building towards. |

I'm not pinning anything on him. He needs a win, that's it. He has two top tank picks and Montour to show for his time here so far. I'm confident that Skinner gets signed, and that'll be a win for him. If he doesn't sign, it's another mark in the loss column. I don't see how that's a controversial thing to say

What's Reinhart's record vs. Other #2 picks?
Same as John Jack, but alot less points and skill
" other superstars" also implies John Jack is a superstar.
I have Samson as a good nhl player.

Scandella - Boss34
I think a 65 pt player should be higher than the middle rung. On your scale he's great, bordering star. It's either that or 80% of the league is Scandella level. |

Reportedly, Skinner blocked trades to STL, OTT, MON, and LAK At that time other teams who had interest like PIT, FLA, BOS, VAN, and NSH cooled off on offering for him. |

If Skinner doesn't sign it will be because he either didn't want to be here or wanted a ridiculous amount of money. Botts can't change either. We gave up pennies on the dollar to get him - even in hindsight it was a good trade.
I don't disagree that he couldn't have done more. |

I like everything Krueger says. He doesn't say too much and he don't talk garbage like Rex did. He also worked in "the process". It may not translate into wins but he feels like a leader of men. |

Good post
Although these past 2 years were by design and in conjunction with the pegulas vision of building threw high draft picks.

This poop needs to stop. We can’t have it both ways.
We can’t say we need second and third round picks to build depth in one scenario and then in the next say that they are pennies on the dollar.
If Skinner does not get signed it was a waste of assets to acquire a guy who played one meaningless season here.
The same argument used for Kane and ROR. |

Second and third round picks are lottery tickets. Nothing more, nothing less. We spent a lottery ticket on the chance of hitting a home run (I still think we get it done). You're assuming that the 2nd and 3rd would be real players - how do you know? You don't. I like risking a 2nd on getting a star as compared to getting a 17 year old who doesn't yet shave.
I don't know how you can compare that to ROR and Kane.

Well.... we have had like 3 2nds, 3 3rds, and 4 4ths in the last 2 years so using excess to acquire a player of that talent in hopes of resigning is perfectly fine with me. But in those picks that we are keeping we need to actually HIT on some of those picks.
Not to slice hairs but when we have a surplus it's a different scenario |

“I work on the basis that Jeff Skinner is a Buffalo Sabre” - Ralph Krueger @WKBW #Sabres
That's pretty bold to say in an introductory press conference unless you have been told that the front office is quite confident the deal will get done. |

Ralph Krueger says he’s confident Jeff Skinner will be back with #Sabres bc of tone of their conversation and how Skinner talked about the future. Krueger adds Skinner never changed path of convo even when opportunity presented itself. |
