except that Panarin never said he wanted to be a Habs, little detail I know

He was interested before he signed in Chicago, had meetings set up and everything but scheduling conflicts forced him to cancel and he eventually signed with the Hawks

I'm not sure, apparently there's a 1st involved as well, I'd guess it would be Pittsburgh's going to Florida

and now Duchene also wants to be a Habs! wtf is going on in here?!?
- fidopro

Of course they all want an offer from the Habs.

Nothing helps a bidding war more than the Habs throwing huge amount of money at the player to try and compensate for high taxes.

Them actually coming here is another story.

I know some players did that in the past, but when is the last time a top ufa said openly they wanted to be a Habs? I honestly don't remember. Brad Richards maybe?

Martin Lapointe before he signed in Boston.

Shanahan.

Lucic (thank god that failed).

Almost every time the Habs were "in" for a big UFA, he ended up signing elsewhere despite the Habs throwing the most money in some cases.

It made me very skeptical of UFAs saying "oh yeah, Montreal would be great"

When he decided to go to Philly, Habs did try to sign him with everything they had.

I'm go with a BOLD statement here :

I am 37.6% in favor of Erik Karlsson signing for 8 years in Montreal

- Not_Yan

C'est 7 ans max. 8 s'il signe avec les Sharks.
