I saw someone on capfriendly add a new name for a 2C that I was a big fan of last night.
It was Buffalo trading for Wild's Eric Staal. He is 34 with 2x3.25M left. The more I thought about it though that could be a great 2C. He has missed 1 game in 3 years with the Wild and has 65, 76, and 52 points in his last 3 seasons. In 2018, he potted 42 goals. - JVince11
But are we on his list of teams he’d accept a trade to? (I’d guess not)
And as u pointed out, he’s been good for Minny...
so why are they moving him? |

I posted the same thing in a previous thread. I am thinking the same thing. One of those players will / should be on the board at 7. You might not even have to decide ..... you just have to pick what ever player is left on the board. - Sabretooth9
I wouldn't even hate Broberg. |

His NTC was said to contain all playoff teams so that he wouldn't get traded out of Minny. |

His new extension doesn't have any trade clauses, per cap friendly. But minny wouldn't trade him at all imo. |

You're not gonna get much for that. Maybe together McCabe, Samuelsson and Nylander gets you 1 middle 6 guy who can play on L2. Not sure who that would be though - jcragcrumple
I think Samuelsson could be the basis for getting back a legit top6 winger
Same for Pilut too
Think of a Montour type trade, but for a young forward
McCabe could be part so a deal too imo
He’d have more value to a team trying to win NOW
Especially bc he’s cheap, so he could appeal to many of these teams that have Cap issues |

Eh not really
Everything I have seen has been between $8.5-$95
Watching Botts get interviewed yesterday after the presser he almost had a little sh!t eating grin on his face when asked about if he can get it done or not.
Almost like they wanted yesterday to be about Ralph and then they announce Skinner's deal today - Stripes77
This..... this actually could be a really good call out. Also, a classy move from... *checks notes* OUR SABRES! |

According to capfriendly he no longer has a NTC. I think it ended after this past season. |

He’d be a nice fit imo if he’d come here
Can bridge the gap for Mitts
And plays a 2way game, so we wouldn’t have to play our 4C (Larsson) 15min a night bc none of our other centers are any good (yet) in our own end- or at least not good enough where u want them taking on those responsibilities |

Minnesota and Anaheim are gonna have to tear their freakin teams down one of these years.... my god. Underachieving and overpaid.
Saw someone mention Getzlaf at 2C. 2 years of 8.25M seems heavy even if the actual salary is less. |

He could be a piece, but not the basis. No one is trading a top-6 winger for a development project that's 2-3 years away from maybe making the league. If they added a 1st round pick, then it's more similar to the Montour trade, but even at that, Guhle was closer to the show than Samuelsson |

I am sure that Botts is going to try
However I am just worried other teams who have the cap space have more assets to give up - Stripes77
Not every team is a Cap ceiling team though either
We are in position to make at least 1 trade to take advantage of someone
And there’s a good number of “someones” to look at this year |

McCabe, Nylander, and a pick gets me almost whatever non-superstar player I want in NHL 19. Lol. Just saying. Comparable.
I think I've gotten Hertl, Silfverberg, DeBrincat, and Ehlers with some combo of that trade offer. |

I bet we go after Donskoi. Not flashy but seriously good on the defense side.
Also our two-way center is already in the organization, just needs more time to develop. Asplund or Pettersen should be ready to fill that role in a year or 2, right? Just like Mitts will be ready to be our 2C in a year or 2.
Patience and develop from within. We are so NOT in the position to be throwing around picks and prospects for pieces yet. - LandlordTom
Who’s that?
Do u mean Davidsson???
And yeah...
theoretically one of them could be our 3C guy who is a solid 2way player
But that’s FAR from determined if they can take on that role, and how good they’d be in it |

Lol right. I was shocked too. I think I gave up one of BUF's 1sts and like Nelson or Tage in that one. |

A week later than perhaps I expected, but it sounds like the Jeff Skinner contract negotiations are down to crunch time. My sense is he’ll either get a deal done in the next day or two or head off to UFA. If it gets done, I’d presume it to be 8 years at around $9M AAV.
I mean isn't that what everyone with half a brain has been saying? - Stripes77
More or less yes, because over the past 5 months these insiders have taken us for a journey from much lower AVV and hopefully less term, that a week ago delivered us to where we are now as far expectations on both go.
Without them, we may still be discussing 6 years at $7m - $8m |

Its funny to watch NHL Twitter freak out about Kevin Hayes getting traded to PHI but then yesterday he shows himself playing golf with Skjei, McDonaugh, & Stepan.
Everyone on Twitter out there like "WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!!?!?! WHO ELSE IS COMING TO PHILLY?" |

The tribune says he has it too. Regardless, all they have beside him at center is an old-ass, broken-down Koivu and some questions, so i don't think they intend to trade him |

Well idk about all that?
But a team like Tampa could reasonably give us JtMiller (& his 5.25mil Cap hit) for McCabe (cheap... and they look to lose 3 starting defensemen to UFA) and a non1st pick or a depth forward like a Girgs who is cheap
They need more Cap Space than just getting rid of Callahan
So even if we didn’t do the deal with Cally,
there’s still an opportunity to talk to Tampa
And there’s at least another half dozen teams in similar circumstances |

For a team like Anaheim who likes size...
I bet a package of Tage + Samuelsson would get us something legit
Especially if they realize they need to get younger |

At 7...?
That probably too early,
and it seems like he’s in a tier behind those forwards we keep talking about
There’s some draft ppl who are very high on him though
It would be an interesting pick |
