I'm really trying to figure out why Philly even traded for Kevin Hayes.
That really doesn't show they have much confidence in former #2 overall pick Nolan Patrick. Who has had 2 very Mitts-esque seasons to start his career. |

I think Patrick ends up like Reinhart
Drafted as a C but ends up playing wing

If Byram is there, idk how u pass him up?
Building a top4 with him & Dahlin each on a pair would give us a big advantage over just about anyone
And being that they’re both LH,
it would free us up to use some of McCabe, Samuelsson & Pilut as trade bait to bring in forwards
And late in games if we are down 1 (& the pp),
we could have Dahlin shift to the Right Side & that combo would be deadly - jdfitz77

And there’s no way he’d come here anyways - jdfitz77
Oh I know... I'm not having that one either.
People are starting to really dig the barrel for a potential short term 2C.
Stepan is another commonly named one. I've seen people mention Okposo and like a 2nd or 3rd rounder for Stepan. Similar cap hits but KO is for 5 years as opposed to 2 years.
I think I've seen us giving up like Evan or Pekar in those scenarios as well. |

Yea that one doesn't take an insider to piece together but July 1st is the day. So maybe he knows that there is a deadline that Buffalo has set for Skinner to accept or not. Also, the 9M AAV is a little higher than most had reported. Maybe they upped it to a "final offer" in the last 24 hours. - JVince11
Insiders .. just heard he’ll be done in 24 hours or 2 days |

Nico has been pretty dang underwhelming in 2 years as well IMO.
Heiskanen and Pettersson are the steals of that draft. |

He’d be a nice fit imo if he’d come here
Can bridge the gap for Mitts
And plays a 2way game, so we wouldn’t have to play our 4C (Larsson) 15min a night bc none of our other centers are any good (yet) in our own end- or at least not good enough where u want them taking on those responsibilities - jdfitz77
In your opinion, What would it take to get him.
What would you be willing to give up? |

Hayes is honestly a good 3C ..... you do not want him at 2C. He’s slow and not even very good. Plus watch him get paid 6 mill a year. That’s a huge mistake |

I think it really goes to show how tough the NHL really is
I would be opposed to raising the draft age to 19 or even 20 like they've discussed.
It would make junior hockey a lot more fun as well |

Just something about throwing 18/19 year old kids straight into the NHL too.
Maybe it doesn't even have to be raising the draft age but instead they have to spend at least 1 year in developmental AHL or something. |

Not a big Stephan guy either
But if other (better) options don’t come through,
he could be “ok” for 2 years
I just wouldn’t expect much
And he’d have to come cheap, or they’d have to take Okposo like u suggest |

Agree.
I'd put him below Vanek for guys I'd offer a 1/2 year deal for no more than 2-2.5M. Could be nothing more than trade bait at the deadline. |

For Staal?
I’m sure a deal could be worked out
I just don’t think he’d come here,
and i don’t think Minny will trade him now
Maybe next offseason (his last in his current contract) if they disappoint again
Something like Tage/Nylander + would be what i think they’d be looking for
But again,
much more likely next offseason than this imo |

I think everyone would. The problem is, logistically, how do you do that?
Do you skip a draft? |

As much as I’ve loved his play over the years,
hard pass NOW
He’s gotta want to go to a Cup team anyways at this point |

The guys over 30 that i'd even consider an offer for is prettttttttty dang short. Pavelski, Vanek, Pommer, Maroon, & Boyle. |

Gonna have guys pulling Auston Matthews a lot more and playing pro hockey in Europe or KHL even for a year or two. |

But I'm saying if you wanted to raise the draft age to 19, no one would be draft eligible this year. The NHL would have to not have a draft this year |

Interesting.
I had a email exchange with the Mock GM for Minny,
I was exploring moving up into 10-15 range to try to grab Soderstrom, D Sweden
We don't think there is a fit as they are looking for talented F's ... which we are too.
He did offer up Staal ... but no mention of the cost, yet. |
