But I'm saying if you wanted to raise the draft age to 19, no one would be draft eligible this year. The NHL would have to not have a draft this year
- jcragcrumple

I get what you are saying but some of the Juniors would suffer I think. Guys who have break out years at 17 and 18 will then jump to Euro or KHL to make some money at 18/19 then get drafted to the NHL.

Yerdon-

"..First off, some fans have expressed frustration on Twitter about Krueger saying they need to get “grit” and “bite” into the group and how that doesn’t jibe with analytics and modern hockey. But really, the physicality element Krueger was referring to has been missing from the Sabres for quite a while. We’re not talking about throwing John Scott or Rob Ray out there to rough people up for six minutes of ice time per game; that’s not what the NHL is anymore. But a physical player that can possess the puck and generate scoring chances is definitely the type the Sabres should be in the market for.

The tough part is finding the right person to fill that role. Kicking the tires in free agency for someone like Wayne Simmonds or Brian Boyle might be worthwhile. Even a year of Ryan Callahan, in a trade that brings other help, wouldn’t be so bad."

I know some passionately despise the idea of bringing Cally here, but he still offers a lot of defensive play and leadership. He offers a hell of a lot more than Sobotka, and both of their contracts are up at the same time. He still has some milage left, and would be a very good fourth liner with the kind of grit this team sorely lacks. Simmonds, similar deal.

You can't like Simmonds and hate Cally. Especially with the team friendly term Cally holds. I honestly believe these two players are likely targets for this team, especially after declaring that we are looking for players like these two.

You absolutely can like Simmonds and hate Callahan.

One can play hockey at a relatively high level the other, not so much.

I’m sorry but as far as on ice play is concerned, Callahan offers this team zero.

I think it really goes to show how tough the NHL really is

I would be opposed to raising the draft age to 19 or even 20 like they've discussed.

It would make junior hockey a lot more fun as well

Interesting.
I had a email exchange with the Mock GM for Minny,
I was exploring moving up into 10-15 range to try to grab Soderstrom, D Sweden

We don't think there is a fit as they are looking for talented F's ... which we are too.

He did offer up Staal ... but no mention of the cost, yet.

I’d love Spencer Knight (goalie) with pick31,
but I’ve seen him go as high as 13 in some mocks 😢😢😢

Oreilly #3 scorer in the playoffs. People really think he was having a “bad” playoff?
