Not sure if this was shared
Krueger said he believed improving defensive structure could help a player like Rasmus Ristolainen, who he referred to as a centerpiece moving forward.

I have heard that after July 1, the Sabres are no longer able to offer 8 years - jcragcrumple
There's two parts to this
1 They could still offer him 8 years during the legal tampering part where he can gauge interests from other teams and then realize he is better off signing for 8 years here
2.) I am trying to figure out for sure if July 1st is the cutoff because I believe since he was on the Sabres roster at the end of the trade deadline they could still offer him the 8 years? |

He's no longer "Sabres property" after the 1st, though, so doesn't that come into play? |

pretty sure once july 1st hits, he is a free agent and the 8 year deal is off the table, since sabres do not own his rights at that point in time |

It is the established opinion of this board that offensive zone starts that align with his offensive skills will not make his stats better.

I thought it was coaching?
I thought it was his partner?
I thought he was young?
It’s hard to keep track of the excuses for all the underperforming players on our team though |

July 1st would make sense but I cannot find it in the CBA |

It's definitely not him being young. I think part of it was coaching. None of the dmen improved under Housley, and that was supposed to be his thing. I liked his game with McCabe. I think if he's playing 18-20 mins and getting 60-65% ozone starts, he'll look a lot better.
If they get forward or two who can put the puck in the net, I think he can be a 50 point, even +/- guy.
I honestly think they should trade him for forward help, but I won't be surprised when he does well on another team, if he's used as an offensive defenseman, which he is. |

I bet if the deal is not done by rush hour tomorrow, Skinner goes UFA. Time to land Hall if that’s the case |

What will happen is the same thing that happened to many others in his situation.
He will be asked to do less, do ok, and then after years of being over rated, he will become under rated.
I wanted ROR traded, but I said it before, O’Reilly was an actual good player. Ristolainen at his best is a very average player all things considered |
