Hate to see him go but someone will take 8 mill or so a year, i'm sure some FA will.

I've long held but that teams generally have no business paying this kind of money to wingers, but the one time it has worked out well was Pittsburgh and Kessel, of which Botterill was a part of. I've long since talked myself into the notion that he needs to be signed, even at $9 million per year.

You can make it all fit and still make improvements without moving a bad contract out

https://www.capfriendly.c.../armchair-gm/team/1207360

Then $24 million comes off in UFA's after the season:

Scandella
Bogo
Sobotka
Sheary (I would probably try to keep him)
Callahan
Wilson
Hunwick

So to give your team some cap flexibility during the season if you can't move Scandella you would move Hunwick or put Bogo on LTIR

- Stripes77

The problem isn’t making it fit under the cap

It’s adding additional players to the current roster.

Skinner signs for 9 and cally at 6. There goes your chances of signing Duchene or any decent free agent or even trading for one

Mayo vs vinegar is no-contest.
Mayo's underlying numbers in fat, calories, smell and texture all are negative; mayo is worse in gags-per-60-minutes, relative sloppiness, grossness suppression, and its french-fry Corsi-for is dismal (unless you're French or weird).
Vinegar is actually good for your body to ingest, has way better possession as a marinade ingredient, unclogs blood vessels (try that, mayo!), is good for your liver and skin, and its fried-food metrics are stellar.

Another argument against mayo: watch Undercover Brother. Right, Pachs?

Good input. I disagree, completely, but good input.

I agree with you IMO he's not worth more then 7.5 but the market speaks louder. Sad very soon 9 mill a year may very well be the starting point for players.

I'm taking a survey.

What kind of salads do you think are best for summer consumption? Mayonnaise based salad, or vinegar based salad? Are the best salads made of vegetables, beans, pasta or fruit?

And in light of your answers to that, rank the following:

COLE SLAW
MAC SALAD
POTATO SALAD
THREE BEAN SALAD
FRUIT SALAD
AMBROSIA
SEVEN LAYER SALAD
COLUMBIA'S 1905 SALAD
WALDORF SALAD
CORN SALAD

- Der Kaiser

Oil for fun. Nothing tops German Potato salad either. Made with white potatoes and fried sweet onions too. I challenge you to find a better side to serve with Chiavettas BBQ Chicken.

I added 2 quality FA's besides Skinner and a center that is probably ahead of Mitts at the moment

Did you even look at the roster?

So what you’re saying is no playoffs next year again.

I think the huge improvement is the 2nd and 3rd lines which would get them into the playoffs

They wouldn't contend though

sure they did...

Eichel performed like the franchise player he was drafted to be at No. 2-overall
Reinhart finally performed like a player close to being worthy of a second-overall pick
Skinner performed like the veteran 7th-overall player that he was
Dahlin showed immense promise as a 18 yr. old franchise defenseman selected first-overall

Ristolainen scored one less point than Dahlin

- Michael Pachla

And this is a terrible way to compare two D men

Botterill had 2 chances to sign him before the trade deadline, he waited. Soon as the deadline came and we seen Stone sign and trade, bad things man, bad things. Skinner's agent will play hard ball. This sucks to be honest.

If Skinner walks people will come on this blog and bash the Sabres, if we sign him, they will bash the Sabres for giving him to much. I can see it now.

Botts needs to make playoffs or show major improvement. You can’t have another bad contract tie up your cap this year. Even if he has 1 year left.

The Sabres have too many bad contracts / wasted money to take on another

Okpsoso
Bogo
Scandella
Sobotka
Hundwick

- Sabretooth9

It's friggin' beautiful that 4 of those 5 clowns only have 1 more year - or less - on the Sabres. It would be incredible if Okposo could be dumped but i don't think anyone will take that poopy contract on.

The Risto hate really should stop around here. Most of the time he is being hung out to dry by his teammates. Very little help from our forwards in the Dzone. Defensive partners that forget what side of the ice they're supposed to be on, and once he gets the puck the outlet guys turn up the ice and start skating away expecting a 100ft pass every time.
What kind of numbers do you think Risto could get if he had Dahlin's 60% Ozone starts? You think he would lead the team in giveaways like Dahlin did? He was 3rd on the team in shot attempts, imagine what he could do with 60% Ozone starts.
This year in 10 games against Crosby, Ovie and Stamkos' high scoring Lightning team he was a +2.

He should start playing well then

The deadline to sign him should have been...the trade deadline. Like what most non playoff teams do with UFAs.

Sounds like it. Did they think his price would come down? Have to think the Sabres knew they lost a lot of their leverage after deadline day.
