You can blame the Canucks current dmen but I think that’s just an excuse for the terrible pro scouting when it comes to dmen. When those new guys get outplayed by the Canucks crappy dmen then there’s a problem with who they’re bringing in. Gudbranson was supposed to carry Hutton, not the other way around.

There’s a reason Leafs fans want Zaitsev gone, they’ve watched him play every game. I don’t expect him to somehow play better on a less talented team.

Well i’m not in the Babcock fan club. Imo without a stacked roster he is mediocre. I give him no credit on being a coaching guru like a Trotz who does much more. Deployment is on the coach & his GM’s drafted the talent he is blessed with. I said earlier the 5yrs is a risk but i’ll hold off on a judgement til he is actually here & playing. I’m not on his bandwagon but open minded on it til i see what we give.

In another year or 2 some of the defense prospects should be getting serious minutes on the big club. I can wait until then instead of taking steps backwards trying to speed up the process.
