You make valid points and I can see the Isles moving Leddy this offseason and maybe Mayfield down the line. I just think Dobson and Wilde could be special and the Isles D as a whole could be special.You could have elite level puck moving dmen like Pulock, Toews, Dobson, and Wilde it's a huge plus.

Leddy is in his late 20's wouldnt call him old by any stretch, but the cost of a top 4 dman is most likely a top 6 F

Skinner is a sniper for sure, but he gets hurt a often and is not exactly a fantastic 2 way player. I wouldn't want to give him 7.5 mill a year nevermind 9 mill... hard pass.

Nice work with the write up Ben! I wonder if the Isles will need to go the trade route to improve the top 6? I think the Isles can be players for Panarin but some of these players like Duchene and Skinner seem out of reach.

Thank you! As for trading to improve the top-six, I'd imagine they still at least try for a big addition in free agency then resort to a trade if nothing works out. Also potential to go after smaller wingers like Dzingel in FA.

Keep up the great work Ben, we missed out most of the season having any Isls talk so this is refreshing.
9 mil wow, Sabres the eastern version of Oilers for management style. Get Skinner for <6.5 then your talking. The thing is Lou already has Ho-sang to step in but this kid is not wired like most, so not sure he will fit which is to bad because he has offensive skills lacking on this forward group. Another player I would go after is another maligned kid Brandon Pirri, all he does is score goals and would be cheap.

Pirri is someone who I've always thought could be great in the right setting. Like you said, would come cheap and is a low-risk move.

Not saying Lee is coming in anywhere near $9M but it's hard to justify that if Skinner gets that money with 40G and 63P this year, Lee, one year removed from 40G and 62P, should now get anything less than $7-7.5M. The two-year age gap is key but if Lee signs on any sort of a reasonable term (5ish years), the number is probably now in the 7s if it wasn't before.
