Still holding out hope that the Blues can pull this off! But yeah, just want to move on to the off season already.

as an example, in 1991, there were 16 playoff teams, just like today

the first round was a 7 game series just like today

the finals went 6 games, Penguins won the Cup on May 25th

Anybody else stunned that Skinner is getting $9 million a year from Buffalo? WTF?? The guy scored 4 goals after the trade deadline and all of them were after Buffalo was eliminated from playoff contention. And he has never even played ONE playoff game! Prices are going to be high this summer.

I think Buffalo was caught between rock and hard place

they have loads of cap space, Eichel is cranky and would get even crankier if Skinner left

they couldn't take chance of losing him for nothing, they have big problem attracting players

I agree that Buffalo had to overpay, but $9 million??? He had 63 points last year which was a career high. So he's not even a point per game player. The market is over $8 million for a .75 ppg player? It's nuts.

It’s more about his goal scoring though. Consistent goal scorers like that are hard to find. JVR is making 7 million and each new contract always resets the market. I think 9 million is an overpay too, but it’s not far fetched. I bet within the next 5 years we might see something closer to 15 million unless the new CBA really changes

I'm sorry but 9mil is far fetched for Skinner. That will be one of the worst contracts in the league after 2 years. Maybe I'm wrong but Kucherov is only a little higher with AAV and he is literally twice the player Skinner is. These contracts are getting insane.

maybe they'll get a chance to do a compliance buyout in a couple of years

Am I crazy? If Skinner is 9 then Panarin and Karlsson are 11+.

I get it, he's a great player. But he did NOTHING when the Sabres were trying to make a playoff run. Whatever, it is what it is. Prices are going to be high this summer for sure. It's good to have some cap space and guys on cheaper contracts.

Maybe I should have put 12-13 since Skinner just butt (frank)ed the market.
