GM Jason Botterill said there has been "dialogue" between the #Sabres and Jason Pominville. Did not rule out Pominville returning.

Good. He can still be a player. Just not at 5 mil

Are we just going to be the team that overpays every player by $1-1.5M now ?

He just signed an 8 year extension, doubt they consider moving him. Don't want PK, even though he seems to be a great community guy, he is not the same player he was a few years ago.
Josi is the guy I would be most interested in. Many players have said he is the toughest dman to play against and he will be a UFA after this season. With PK and Ellis making over $15m, I don't know if they can afford to give Josi a raise over the $4m he makes now.
Besides, the name Ellis I believe has been retired by the Sabres and there will be an MFE jersey in the rafters soon.

I'm probably late here... But they are absolutely not trading their Captain.
PK will be gone before that happens.

Their good. He has room to grow.

Legit all of his scoring is at EV and he’s good on D.

He’d be a perfect 3C for us IMO

I'm guessing it's going to be a few lower level moves like instead of signing someone like Duchene, Hayes, or Karlsson long term at big $$$.

With the additional $18M coming off the cap after next season, it feels like a year from now is the time to look a bigger name UFA. Especially if they can somehow offload Okposo, but even if they can't do that, it'll be a year more as far as Mittelstadt's development, prospects development overall, and the pick made at 7 to know what is needed in UFA.

I agree

I don't think they make a huge splash in Free Agency this year

They might make a decent depth signing or two (2nd/3rd line guys and or a 2nd pairing guy)

I think the trade route looks better

They cannot afford another bad contract on the books with Reinhart and then Dahlin the year after being due for a new contract

Sabres are 4th worst in NHL games played by players drafted in rounds 3-7 since 2014-2017.

Raw deal tho

Hearing that projected first round pick Peyton Krebs tore his Achilles during offseason training. He could miss training camp but should be back early in the season.

Good. He's fine. I think it would be a no-brainer if they could somehow just get rid of Okposo

I did a capfriendly roster with both William and Erik Karlsson

The problem is finding someone to take Scandella and Bogo and then long term moving Okposo so you can keep Dahlin and Reinhart

Really it's that Okposo contract that kills this team as Sobotka, Bogo and Scandella all come off the books after next season

I don’t think this is hard... put Okoposo in Hossa’s equipment, call it raging jock itch and LTIR him....

Speaking of Okposo...

This be a GM mode on CapFriendly...my god there are a bunch of posters there who think Okposo can be a 2nd line RWer again...

Follow it up with a position in the academy? He can report to Matt F-ing Ellis... no more concussion, no more raging jock itch. Just work the kids out...
