What's the pick here? Wingers are plentiful with Caufield, Boldy, and Pod. Center is a little thinner but Cozens is still there. Krebs also, but Sportsnet is reporting he just partially cut/tore his Achilles.

Imo Cozens is a no-brainer here.
Big, strong, plays strong, great shot, shoot 1st mentality, Center, could easily play RW.
Decently defensively.
Center is most critical need,
Sniper, skating, and 200ft game most desired attributes
Cozens rated higher, much higher by most.
Like Caufield alot, but Cozens is a more complete player, at a 1st position of need and has a great shot and can play physical to win battles. |

Caufield - gerbe75pts
Agreed. You've been head engineer on the Cole Caufield Express for quite a while now. But suppose CC is gone, do you have a preference between Dach and Zegras. |

Zucker has one good year and it was only because Parise missed most of the season so he was 1LW. Besides that he is Matt Read, Moulson, and Okposo type flash in the pan.
I’d only like the deal of KO’s contract went the other way. - JVince11
Zucker is a slightly better Sheary. Would I take him? Sure. But I’m not giving up much for him. |

In my sh!tty opinion, there seems to be a lot of folks here overvaluing Sheary. The guy plain ol' sucks, and he's very small. He's just a "guy in the league" category right now and he's one of the guys I want gone. |

Zegras but people have to understand yes he will be the joe Thorton of passing imo but we have passers and zero scores besides skinner |

I agree with this. His numbers aren't awful, his contract is okay I guess, but he just doesn't move the needle much for me. Seems to spend a lot of time off his skates. |

Rather harsh, but the overall message I agree with.
Next offseason will be joyous for this club, with all the slug contracts contracts expiring. |

Unless we take Alex I’ll be ok
But if we pass on Caufield and he’s riding shotgun with Connor McDavid it’s going to make me absolutely sick

That's pretty much my thought as well. i do think his shot is pretty good, but he's a wizard at passing. I wish we didn't have to count on Olo so much to be a top notch shooter, but what else do we really have?
Returning to a point made the other day, a successful move to C by Samson would be a really nice boost. |

Don’t get me wrong Zegras is going to be awesome but he’s a guy that’s more comfortable passing the puck then trying for the game winner
If we had scores like let’s say if VO, Alex both were established 25 to 30 goal scores it would be an easy pick for me then |

I might be in the majority of people but I don’t like Cozens sure he could be Ryan Kessler but his hockey IQ Bothers me has all the tools to be “it” but if you don’t have that hockey IQ you end up like players like Ristolainen and kassian etc

I just wonder the price.
They basically tried giving him away to CGY.

I would like to get my hands on a Sam 2 for the 3rd line If the price was cheap you never know he might just wake up |

Kessel plays for Pittsburgh. Broads said it was reported that minny basically wanted nothing for Zucker from Calgary |

How do you see Mitts ending up? More of a Samson-esque distributor, or a shooter. Last year, he seemed a little timid about pulling the trigger. |

I second this, although I love Boldy as well. I think Krebs will be a guy that gets picked in the 10-15 range that people will look back on and go “why wasn’t he taken higher” looks like Bo Horvat 2.0 |

I still see him ending up a Tyler Seguin type of player hopefully in 2 years |

With tearing his Achilies, he should fall a bit...would be great if Botts packaged 30/31 with X to move to something like 20 and grab him there. |

The only thing about selecting Boldy or Caufield at 7 is this, what is the plan for the Centre position ? That is easily our position of weakness whether it’s in the big club or the pipeline. I would think Zegras/Cozens would be the pick of either are there. It’s much easier to acquire help on the wings then it is to acquire a 2C. We just got a 40 goal scorer for nothing. We also interviewed Zegras twice so that that fwiw. |

I think what bothers me about him is that he sounds like a big man that skates well but isn't regarded as having high-end offensive talent. I don't see how you can go for that at 7 with so many quality players on the board. |
