With tearing his Achilies, he should fall a bit...would be great if Botts packaged 30/31 with X to move to something like 20 and grab him there.
- IonSabres

I don’t think the injury will effect his draft positioning because he would need at least one more year of junior anyways.

The only thing about selecting Boldy or Caufield at 7 is this, what is the plan for the Centre position ? That is easily our position of weakness whether it’s in the big club or the pipeline. I would think Zegras/Cozens would be the pick of either are there. It’s much easier to acquire help on the wings then it is to acquire a 2C. We just got a 40 goal scorer for nothing. We also interviewed Zegras twice so that that fwiw.

No love for Mitts?
I could certainly see Zegras being the pick, I could also picture him getting snapped up at 6 by the wings. This is why the perceived recent fall of Pod is disappointing to me.

He's very well regarded in this draft so if he does drop a little, it won't be very much. If he was thought to be a tier lower his fall might be more dramatic.

I love Mittelstadt but you can never have too many Centres. With a Centre corps of Eichel-Mitts-Zegras/Cozens/Dach/Krebs-Asplund we won’t have to worry much about having skill down the middle.

The only reason Botts won't because he's a CHL player. If it worked out that way, it wouldn't surprise me if he picks Caulfield.

I mean Barzal was a top 5 pick before his injury that spiralled him down to 15 and the rest is history. Now Barzal’s injury was mid season so he missed a lot of game time but the premise still remains. I was hoping people would make he same mistake with Turcotte and we could get him in the 5-7 range but it doesn’t appear teams are making that same mistake twice.

As you've said before, the offseason will be very telling of JB's mentality. It seems every year there are some mid-late 1st rounders that end up falling. If Botts flips 30/31, it may mean he's feeling pressure to push for the playoffs this year. If he keeps it, it says he's sticking to his very patient guns...or his offers for the late 1st were crap.

Vettel slides across the grass, how the (frank) is that an unsafe re-entry? There's nowhere to go, he's lucky he didn't end up in the wall.

Damnit, for a while there Turcotte at 7 did seem like a realistic possibility. Now it feels like an extremely long shot. Someone will be there for us, and I'll just talk myself into whoever it ends up being.

And only four more years of CoHo at just under 800k!!!!

I was reminded of this on capfriendly, which reminded me of the SJS conditional 4th rounder. If they REALLY want to hang on to their 4th this year, we get their 3rd in 2020...from the Kane trade two deadlines ago. Credit to Botts for not punching himself in the face during negotiations over the hairsplitting of a 3/4th rounder.

That injury can go multiple ways, one of which limits the player's skating ability. Would need to get post surgery evaluation and then it us still a gamble.

I remember thinking we were set at C for years to come when the Sabres drafted Grigs and Girgs in the top half of the 1st round. I think scouting and information has come a long way in the years since.

I think the trade looks a lot worse now that it’s the 30th pick.

That’s what I’ll cop to.

O’Reilly is a very good player, and I’ve never once denied that

We will see if this is the real him or just a guy having a career year.

All I know is that this is not the O’Reilly we had in Buffalo. And I’m pretty sure his biggest fans can be man enough to admit that

- sbroads24

That’s a very disingenuous statement by u

Yeah, you’ve said O’Reilly is a good player before a few times
But 99% of your posts on him are negative
Even when he’s doing GREAT

He’s absolutely killing it this year...
and you still CONSTANTLY dog him
