He’s such a two way freak they had to keep him away from other teams top lines to get him going offensively

https://twitter.com/ineff.../1135749094905909248?s=21

“This is unusual because the Blues all season used ROR as their primary centre vs top lines, which makes great use of his defensive strength. Choosing to create a mismatch for him offensively is newer.”

Are you really gonna downplay the coaching strategies that has them within 1 more victory of the Cup???

If anything... it shows how versatile he can be playing different roles

Man fitz, give it up who cares what he thinks about ror, if you like him cheer for him.
We all need to realize he’s gone, judge the trade and move on not like he’s coming back.

For those who are interested in the Mock Draft,
a Trade Proposal I received.
(Btw, I tried moving up into 3, 4, for Turcotte, 5, and 6 ... for Cozens if avail...no takers)
So far Highes, Kakko, Byram off the Board... Avs on the clock

To Buffalo:
2020 1st (unprotected)
*2021 1st (included if Barrie does not resign with Buffalo)
16th overall
Barrie
Kaut

To Colorado

7th OA
31st OA (STL pick)

My thought is to counter 30/31 with Nylander,
Then try to package those 2 to move up

- IonSabres

I think I’d do that trade
We are giving up the best asset

But 16th & Barrie for 7th is good value
And if we lose Barrie, we get another first

Then we get Kaut, who was a mid1st round pick
and their 2020 pick for 31

Seems like a no brainer unless we don’t like who we could get at 16 and are in love with who we’d take 7th

Word.

I have nothing for pro/con ROR endlessness. But I'll talk draft about late teenagers I have very limited insight into all day long.

You are a professional mental gymnast.

The coaching strategy is fine. It’s worked and ROR has had a dominant last few games.

Who’s saying otherwise?

It’s kinda hard to move on when the best thing to show for is SSTT. THAT TRADE SET THE ORGANIZATION BACK AT LEAST 20 YEARS

Without a doubt it did.

It’s not like we were coming off a 62 point season with the first overall pick when we made it

Doesn’t matter. Didn’t have to trade him for a bunch of trash. ¡Que terrible!

I’m not gonna get into the deal itself good or bad, but it’s done let’s move on. Ror is the most discussed player lately on this board, and he doesn’t even play for us anymore.

You might be exaggerating a touch here, but...I'm gladly willing to site down for a four-course meal of crow if we can go from sarcastically calling him Super Sniper Tage Thompson to genuinely calling him that. If he were able to develop into a true offensive threat and competent defender on the wing, that would be such a YUGE bonus and welcomed permanent fixture to the lineup.

Unfortunately, in the meantime I just think SSTT is too amusing a nickname not to use.

Murray set this organization back 10 years with his poor drafting and trading for core pieces without a foundation. Even with giving ROR away we are still in great shape thanks to the “putz”. Give Thompson time he might surprise a lot of people on this board and become a contributor for this club. We still have yet to see what will come of pick 31 and the Blues 2nd rounder in 2021. The fact we are picking 7th overall this year is better for the franchise long term then having ROR here.

Forgive me if I asked you this before...You've mentioned using 30/31 to help get a young player a la Montour. But do you have a name for a guy in the 20-25 range that would be worth trading up for in that spot? I know it's tough to say before seeing how the board falls.

Use the 30/31 pick to get rid of Okposo.

I've got some really inflammatory, spicy takes about the these high schoolers who I don't know anything about. From the zero amount of research I've done, I like Caufield and I despise Dach and Boldy. Fight me

I think after pick 25 there is not much of a difference between the players in the 25-39 range. It will depend on team preference at that point. The guy we take at 30/31 we might have taken at 25.

Connor McMichael is a Centre who played in London and was pushed down the lineup as they had a lot of vets but showed well. Brett Leason was passed over in the draft twice already so he’s older and could be a guy who needs one year of AHL seasoning before he could become a bottom 6 contributor for an NHL club. Nicholas Robertson and Jacob Pelliter are two smaller guys with lots of skill. A few Swedes like Hoglander, Grewe, Fagemo (another over ager). If we are looking at d-men then Bjornfot, Honka, Fenmore. It’s anyones guess really how it all turns out though.

It'll be interesting to see if Botterill can use his capology degree to figure something out

Thanks. I was looking for a few names to keep my eye for and of course do some superficial research on. You've given me a great start here...until JB trades it away.

I'll pass on the fight, but I appreciate the love for CC. I'd much prefer Cozens over Dach. I think Boldy at 7 would just leave me shrugging my shoulders. If you pick a wing, Cole is a bigger swing for the fences, and if he's off the board there has to be a better center there waiting for you. We're in a pretty good spot.

Well, we're all at the mercy of JB and the Scouts. Gonna have to live with whatever name they call. I just like finding out who everyone wants or hates in the draft, no matter how they came to their conclusions. Strong opinions welcome.

I would trade ROR 7.5M/4yrs for J. Skinner 9.0 8yrs

All day, every day and twice on Sunder!

their's more to a player than his analytics & numbers,

According to capfriendly .... listed below are the teams with the most cap space available for okposo. (Pending free agents ) not sure who would want him. But that additional 6 million in space would be great

I will be dancing in the streets if we are lucky enough to get a shot at Cozens!

By far the Best Player and Highest % chance to become a top 6 NHL forward outside of Hughes/Kakko

IMO Cozens and Byram as as good as gone as are Hughes and Kakko

Which leaves us only three teams to choose between the rest , if the Russian is taken before 7 then we get our Choice of

Cozens

Kirby Dach

Cole Caufield

WIN WIN WIN
