Casey has a good stat? Hmph - JVince11
Imagine he has quality underlying numbers despite being thrown to the (frank)ing wolves, naked, with a pool noodle as a weapon. |

I blame more of this on okposo, shearry, thompson, sobotka, wilson, and whatever future suck sister that was on his line - homiedclown
He had some really good games with Reinhart
I think a line of
Oloffson Mitts and Reinhart can be an extremely productive one |

I like what Simmonds used to be. But he's a negative impact player. You can find 'snarl and grit' for the impact Simmonds gives you for much, much less than 3-4M. Joonas Donskoi for example. This guy has a GAR of 11.20. For a guy who gives you 30-40 points, that's insanely impressive, and would be loads more beneficial to the Sabres than a guy who used to be awesome but is now a leech. Don't we have enough leeches? Donskoi is the guy you give 3-4M to. Not Simmonds.
This is my own original take and was not influenced by any other poster. |

I'll be the first to admit I thought he would light it up last year based on his showing in the 5 or 6 games he played the year before.
But expecting him to come in and put up 55 points was stupid on my part especially as a rookie.
But the kid wasn't a bad hockey player, he just didn't produce like I/we wanted.
I still have high hopes for him and I expect him to be a much more productive player this season. - Stripes77
I'd bet my car (not a Lockport car) that he becomes a very good player for Buffalo. |

I see. Yeah. Just, don't. Even at 1M, he doesn't help. Maybe if he was cast differently, PP specialist, protected minutes, he'd be ok. But why even bother signing him if that's how you want to play him? His perceived value is so much higher than his actual.

Yes, we do need NHL players for our NHL team. Now that we got that out of the way..

I'm really high on the Connolly idea. It would be nice to have one that isn't Tiny. Not sure if Asplund is ready, I don't hate Lockport here as 4C and Erod as 3C. Hoffman, poop yea. Not sure how we get him. His biggest impact by far is from the PP. Defense still needs to be heavily addressed, but the forward core is leagues better with those 3 and a returning Pommer.

He was thrown to the wolves too early. Body wasn't ready to face adults on 2nd line. That was where Berglund was supposed to help take some of that off his body IMO.
I think that Casey will be fine when he adds about 20 lbs to his frame. Maybe it'll be sometime next year. Couple better line mates wouldn't hurt either. Not hard to upgrade from Sheary, Pommer, Okposo.
Even Olofsson - Mitts - Smith/Nylander could be a big improvement. They could at least score and keep strides with Mitts. |

I'd give up pick 30 plus for Brayden Schenn
doubt the blues do
if you sign him, perfect
if not move him at deadline, and probably get that pick back

This idea is really picking up steam again. It's been a long time since it totally flopped, so this time around should definitely be different. |
