I want Simmonds. For sure. Any GM worth his weight in salt can find ways to circumvent the cap. They do it all the time. Ideally 3 years at 3.5, probably 4 for Buffalo, wouldn’t get anyone in trouble anyways. Big guy that can score and smash people. Team could use a player like that. Simmer’s got 2 good years left in the tank. Mark it down. - Hatboro_Swords
Huh?
How would we need to circumvent the Cap?
4mil is affordable
It just isn’t the best idea for a guy who’s obviously declining
For 2years i wouldn’t hate it,
but i don’t think he’d sign here for that
I think a playoff team would offer him that |

From Ryan Stimson’s Skinner article in the Athletic.
This is kinda surprising
“Skinner’s shot rate in 2019 was the lowest it’s been (over two shots per 60 minutes fewer than the 2018 season) over the last six seasons. Skinner is a player you want shooting close to 19 or 20 times per 60 minutes, not the 16 he put up last season. Part of that is Eichel is a bit of a puck hog and doesn’t always shoot from ideal locations. But I think that’s a best case scenario for his scoring if he’s playing with Eichel and/or Reinhart on a regular basis.”
I almost want to see a line of Skinner on the wing with a distributor like Reinhart at center.
Skinner needs to shoot. He drives scoring chances and Reinhart creates them for others. - sbroads24
It makes sense
Sam’s strength when drafted were supposed to be as a great “set up man”
We just need to give him a winger or 2 that can bury the chances
If so... i could see Sam becoming a 20-25goals with 50ish assists type player |

A lot of words to say the player will produce the same. |

I wonder if Ville Leino is interested in a 2nd go around with the Sabres. I'm thinking 7Mx 4 years to be our 2C should entice him to come back |

Hot take: Okposo pots 25 this season and finds chemistry with Mitts. Scores 9 on the 2nd PP-unit. - BeadyEyedDouche
I think this will happen as well because Okposo is a really good guy. He deserves the playing time and those points. |

You shout and pout stating that Sabres aren’t ready and still want to sign an aging player that brings minimal impact to a short term contract. Should be another good day of nonsense. |

This might be worth a bump.
I like what Simmonds used to be. But he's a negative impact player. You can find 'snarl and grit' for the impact Simmonds gives you for much, much less than 3-4M. Joonas Donskoi for example. This guy has a GAR of 11.20. For a guy who gives you 30-40 points, that's insanely impressive, and would be loads more beneficial to the Sabres than a guy who used to be awesome but is now a leech. Don't we have enough leeches? Donskoi is the guy you give 3-4M to. Not Simmonds.
And this.
Wayne Simmonds is -2.00 GAR (goals above replacement)
For a benchmark, Kyke Okposo is 1.1 GAR, Hunwick is -2.8 and Mittelstadt is 3.70. |

I think Donskoi is going to get so overpaid for what he brings. I’d stay clear of him.
I go back and fourth on Duchene. He scares
Me as a player as he is very inconsistent and you are giving out another 9mm contract. But the Sabres desperately need more top 6 players. |

Role players need to be led. Fix your management, coach and captain and let the attitude trickle down to role players to create snarl and grit.
Spend on skill, look at Edmonton and Pittsburgh for examples of attempting to buy grit. |

You can’t buy culture, GMTM tried that. Botts isn’t chasing UFA’s. He has already said he will look to trades and continue to develop. Building takes time buckle up Barbie.

I still think you need a character vet or two (obviously, not a cement head, but someone who can actually play) to show these kids "the way". It's invaluable, imo, for their long-term success. |

Matt Duchene..0.4 GAR.
Zach Bogosian..0.9 GAR.
It's not the only stat, but it's something.
Actually for Ottawa, he was 11.1.. and crashed with CBUS |

Goals above replacement. It's a general indicator of how much a player helps his team, overall. There's EV and PP breakdowns, so it gives you an idea of what a certain player is particularly good at.
More or less, it tells you, is this player replacable, and/or is he hurting me. |

Risto for example. We all know by just watching that Risto is great on the PP and not much else.
His PP GAR is 3.00, his overall is 2.80. Which means every other facet of his game is damaging to the team. Utilizing him correctly could adjust his usefulness and actually boost that number. |

just because i am a nerd engineer this annoys me.. But cement is a powder that is one of several ingredients in the product that you are referring to which would be called concrete.. Unless of course you mean his head is like a powder that resembles cocaine |

The 4th overall pick was traded from Colorado to Buffalo with the Sabres selecting Alex Turcotte
The trade:
To Buffalo
4OA
J.T. Compher
*Rights to Brassard (*conditional 2020 2nd if he does not resign)
To Colorado
7OA
30/31OA
Alexander Nylander
Does anyone say no to this trade (besides Colorado)? Of course, it's contingent on Chicago picking Byram over Turcotte.
