Zucker seems like a great fit though
Can scores goals & he’s pretty fast
His playoff numbers worry me though
Also... why does Minny seem to want to move him so badly? - jdfitz77
Minnesota's current GM is having a run of awful awful trades.
Seriously go look at how bad it is.

He’s not very good in his own end.
Because he’s invisible in the playoffs.
His cap hit isn’t that great.
They want to spend the money elsewhere.
Suter and Parise’s deal are unmovable and still have 6yrs left.
Did I mention he’s not very good in his own end and sucks in the playoffs? - dadeadhead
He's actually solid defensively but okay |

Very vanilla like Stafford.
Half his points came on the pp last year.
Is he a 60 point winger or a 45 ish guy?
Relatively big signing after a career year.
Was a better even strength player before signing the deal.
Out last few trade with the Wild are very blah.
Is this the home run trade we need.
Lots of questions IMO. |

Zucker for Okposo and the 30/31 - SABRES 89
I’d do that but I doubt Minny does.
They’re trying to rid themselves of dead weight, not add to it. |

Not being all that good in his own end isn’t a deal breaker though
And I’m wondering if his playoff numbers are bc HE is playing bad,
or is it just the whole team that plays like crap
Playoff numbers are concerning for sure |

I saw one of the TSN or whatever guys tweet this morning that the Sabres were in on wanting Dzingel and/or Nyquist.
I've always liked Nyquist... his speed would be great on our top 6 wings. |

Who cares? Ill take a vanilla player who can chip in at both ends. The cap hit has him making less than a lot of top 6 forwards.
It may not be a home run, but if the wild insist on selling low on a good two way player, we should be looking to take advantage.

Problem is term for Gustav.
Nyquist just had a career year in points, is going to be 30, and just had his best playoffs. |

If he’s a 45 point guy then 5.5 is on the high end.
If he’s a 60 point guy then he’s on the low end.
Which is he is the question. Also if he puts up 45 and is making 5.5 and Sam puts up 65, that’ll put Sam in the 8 range. Very risky business.
I’d be interested to see what the cost comes down to. |

They already put sam in the 7.5-8 range when they gave Skinner 9 mil. It's moot now, if the trade cost is low, then even for say 50-55 points, 5.5 mil is close to fair value.
That production+defensive play in FA costs you 6 mil long term to a guy who probably isn't in his prime |

You have to ask yourself though.
If he’s such a good player, why does Minnesota want to sell low? |

Apparently it was LWOS writer Colton Osmond ripping a tweet from Lance Lysowski and adding names to it.
It popped up when I was in the gym and I breezed it quick. I guess it wasn't as reliable. |

His impacts weren't that special. Believe it or not, Erod provides much more positive impact than Compher. - TheSabresTaco
This is correct.
He adds in different ways, although on the score sheet he did performed rather nicely in the playoffs..12 GP 4G 3A = 0.58 PPG. He increased his production year-over-year by 39%, from 23pts to 32pts last season playing in roughly 70 games. He has more growth to go.
Just what the management wants, utility, tough to play against (high compete), and a bit of snarl and grit.
What isn't to like?
For a 3rd-liner who can Play C and LW, I'd take it.
Put him and Erod together!! on the fourth eventually.

If you go down that rabbit hole, you could ask why any useful player gets traded. There are a variety of factors. Tenure and the lack of team results during that time, coupled with Fenton wanting to make the roster in his image probably lead the list |

No I don't. It's the NHL. Just cause GMs hold a position of power does not mean they're smart. Same league thinks Gudbranson is good. |

Yet they resigned Staal and still have Koivu.
Although IMO Staal is on a very friendly deal. |

I wouldn't call trading Zucker for Kessel, trading low. Not even remotely. Kessel is still a helluva player. |

Idk how they got Staal so cheap. He must really like it there. Definitely could have gotten at least $5 per for a 2-3 years on the open market imo |
