I defended the fact that he’s a 21 YO raw prospect that still has room to grow, I don’t know where the narrative came from that I think he’s going to score 30+ as soon as next year if he even does at all. I think there is room for a big bodied (if he puts on the weight) middle 6 contributor on the cheap, especially with all the large contracts we’ll have on the books in a few years.

Sure, he's still young yet, anything's possible. But he was indisputably awful this year. The only thing he was good at was being tall. He missed twice as many shots as Kane did and Kane caught unmitigated hell for it.

Whether there’s room for Tage is a question of whether he’ll ever figure out how to be big bodied, or how to earn a middle six slot, or how to contribute.

I'm pulling for the kid, but he needs to show a little more finish, and a lot more prowess at the 200-foot game if he's gonna carve out an NHL role. He's more of a shooter than a passer, so if he finishes with 16g 14a and looks reasonable defensively on the 3rd line, that'll be great, I agree

Those are very fair questions. There is a chance the majority on here are right about him and he becomes nothing. I just think we should cross that bridge when we get to it.

Rutherford just said today that he believes that Kessel is starting the year in Pittsburgh next year. I would welcome Kessel with open arms though. Only 3 years left at $6.9M won't cripple us down the line.
