Mock Draft update
1- Hughes, NJD
2- Kakko, Rags
3- Byram, Hawks
4- Turcotte, Sabres
5- Caufield, Kings

I predict Cozens to Wings next.
Avs are a wildcard, not sure what they do. I do khow he likes Knight and would likely select him at 16 (their 2nd of 3 1st rounders)...Q becomes, does he move down again a couple of spots, or make the selection at 7...likely a F; Zegras?

Prediction: Sabres make a blockbuster trade at or around the draft including several players and more than 1 team!

You pulling that from the article on The Athletic, an insider, or just a pronostication of yours?
Any thoughts on who and for what.

He would be a nice 2nd line center here.

For super cheap I wouldn't mind but at a $6 million cap hit they might have to eat $1-$1.5 million

He STRUGGLED last year

Tough to buy into that contract, his defensive deficiencies and his poor offensive output.

At this point, based on his cap hit, the fact that we're "helping" NSH, and Turris' recent struggles, he better come very, very cheap.

Duchene is likely going to get $10m, and Price already makes $10.5

It's a hilarious amount of money

How so?
29, 2018->19 = 23 pts in 55 games is 34 per 82 rate, 35pts in previous year
5 years left at $6m cap hit

Don't understand, especially when you reacted with
When a suggested deal of Cirelli was proposed on here, who is 21 and produced 39pts in his 1st full season.

I want to change the topic.

The major conversation in the NBA right now (other than Kevin Durant might miss an entire year of basketball) is "load management", especially after Kawhi Leonard coming out and saying that the reason he is so effective this year is that he took 22 games off. NBA superstars taking nights off isn't exactly old news, but with Leonard's comments and the suggestion that load management could have prevented, or at least lessened the likelihood of Kevin Durant's injury, it's almost a given the league is going to see it become more and more popular. It seems analytics are starting to back the theory that this is a good idea in the long term.

Do you think we start to see this in the NHL? Their season is just as long (82 games, plus 4 rounds of playoffs if you get that far). If the analytics suggest, for instance, that sitting Jack Eichel for 10 games during the year, leads to more production in the remaining 72, would fans be able to stomach it? If the league won't sit players due to financial reasons (i.e. "fans pay too much good money for tickets"), do you think we start to see stricter "pitch counts" when it comes to number of shifts or minutes played during games? The league already does this with goaltenders.

Obviously, there are pros and cons. The pros are obviously that your top players are fresher in a greater number of games, increasing your likelihood of winning those games. There is also, in theory, a lesser chance of injury, significant or otherwise. The cons are that there could be fan uproar, which the NHL can't afford as much of as, say, the NBA can (attendance, TV ratings, etc.). It would also cause a dramatic shift in hockey culture. Hockey fans love to talk about how much tougher the players are in their sport compared to others, and how they play through injury more than any other sport (i.e. Chara with the broken jaw). This would hurt that argument more than a little bit.

They don't really have elite players to pay in the long term and they have enough cap to bring him in. They'd have to dump a few low end contracts to re-sign their RFAs, but it's certainly plausible for a team that really doesn't, and isn't projected to have, an elite #1.

People need to stop being in love with Tampa players, here we go with the charts again. That crap doesn't mean anything to me.

If he had sat 10-15 games last season, would he have lost his love of the game?

mmm I dunno bout that. They're not all great, but they have quite a few players that aren't untouchables that the Sabres could really use.

My guess is that the love flourished in the last month of the season, where as it was simply a rotting pile of compost until then.

"love for the game" is essentially half his contract.

The charts, the graphs, the data. It's all just chunks of evidence.

But there's a lot of evidence that shows that Kyle Turris would make the Buffalo Sabres a worse team.

Will be interesting to see the reaction to that deal when signed.
Avgs 55 pts over past 4 seasons, so rating him as elite is extreme...more like a pretty good 2C, except a defensive liability.
That deal comes through, Sabres off the hook in the court of public opinion.

His impacts in Ottawa vs Columbus was night and day. Torts poorly used him. Today, he's a very solid 2C. Not sure how he'll play in a new system, but his long term contract could get pretty ugly sooner than later.

Well, you hit on it.
You are entitled go your opinion, but this ignoring the Data (represented in graph form) and the resulting projections is similar in nature (not exactly) to ignoring the results of DNA testing and the resulting projections on an individual's health.
But, ok.
