I was just messing around with the Sabres for the beginning of the 2020-2021 season on Capfriendly... the whole team is gutted besides Skinner, Eichel, Dahlin, Risto, and Hutton.

Every other player is a RFA or UFA.

So I started signing players back like Mitts (3M), Montour (4.5M), Sam (6.75M), McCabe (2.5M), VO (1.3M), Smith (1.3M), Tage (1.7M), Pilut (1.3M), & JJ (850k).

And I'm looking at the cap figure and it said that I only had 2M left already.. and I was VERY confused. Then I realized I accidentally signed McCabe for 22.5M instead of 2.5M... and I still had an extra 2M in cap space.

That's HOW FRICKEN much cap room we will have next year. Keeping all of our RFA/UFAs I outlined and no other moves... we would still have 23M in cap space.

This is a good post

Flaccoville has been proven wrong over and over on his ridiculous point of not making the playoffs, until we have a chance of winning it all.

He just wont back down or admit he was wrong.

Look at all the first round upsets and excitement :
Some reason flacco wants to pick early perpetually, instead of winning

- Boss34

I’ll take making it to the second round getting toews, Barzal, Pulock, mayfield, Pelech, and the rest of our team more playoff experience any day of the week. There’s also the obvious wanting to watch your team compete as a fan.

I get it you want to stock pile picks but this old “build a contender for the foreseeable future” mantra is not as easy as losing constantly till you’re instantly a contender which he seems to believe.

Don’t get so upset for under valuing Turris
- washedup20

You put words in your head thinking I think Scandella is good...He is not, and I have never said anything close to that he is good.

I just said he is easier to move because of the term on his contract.

Turris would be a fine stop cap 2 C but not at $6 million for another 5 seasons.

He has been over hyped and overrated since he got his wish out of Arizona

He also had a HORRIBLE season

So you’re saying you’d rather have Okposo than Turris?

That's true he was in there. I just didn't mention him. The numbers of 23M cap space is still accurate including him.

Ignoring facts is the joke.

But ok

I'm sure that's why teams don't sign players.

The charts, the graphs, the data. It's all just chunks of evidence.

But there's a lot of evidence that shows that Kyle Turris would make the Buffalo Sabres a worse team.

I would prefer neither at their cap hits

But Okposo only has 1 less point than Turris over the last 2 seasons.

Okposo's deal is up sooner than Turris

THEY BOTH SUCK at a 6M clip... my gawd.

Turris as a 2C has a .56 PPG clip in his last 2 seasons while Okposo had a .47 PPG clip.

Turris was a 2C on a top tier team in hockey while Okposo was barely a 3RW most nights. And believe it or not... Okposo actually is MORE healthy than a player in the NHL... Turris is Glass Joe out there.

Sh1t... arguing Turris or Okposo.

Says the guy who acted like a drama queen when the Sens got him from the Yotes and flipped out by saying, " Darcy did nothing, why didn't he get him" In another one of your drama queen moments.

That was 7 years ago though, times have changed, players have changed and have gotten older and less productive.

I am loving the idea of Marcus Johansson more and more every day.

Age - Only 28 years old
Size - 6'1 and 210 lbs
Not a boat anchor
Versatility - can play Center and both wings.
Goal scoring - has scored 20+ goals multiple times.
Playoff points - 11 pts for Boston this year and a .50 PPG career playoff player
Winning experience - Deep playoff runs with WASH and now BOS.
Possible Cup win - Boston tonight?
Won't demand giant contract

Dude would be PERFECT to play some 2C for a year or two until Casey is ready and then can just slot over to LW or RW where needed. MaJo could take some faceoffs with Casey on wing and then they can swap for Casey to play center in shifts.

I mean.... there's a dif... he's 30 now with a 5x6M contract. A lot less desirable than a 23 year old kid.

Turris did go on to Ottawa and put up 3 24-27 goal seasons and 3 55+ point seasons (capped a career year at 64 points).

Another poster here mentioned Turris and I said he would be a nice 2nd line center, then it went off the rails from there. Nobody said trade for him, it's was just a suggestion.

I mean.... they disagreed with you....

There can only be one 30+ guy on a 6+M contract here!!!

They would have to fight to the death for it. Okposo the Asian vs Turris the Crackhead....

Tonight... ON.... HOCKEY DEATH MATCH!!!!
