I was worried you wouldn't find a way to sneak in how the leafs always get screwed but you managed there at the end |

I have the same thoughts on actually calling the game by the rule book... This playoff run was such an embarrassment to the NHL. Watch the NBA finals, stuff is called, there is the odd miss, sure, but the game is called roughly the same. Therefore, you get two teams in the finals who are amazing. No offence to either of these teams, but if they weren't so clutch and grab, would they have made it this far? Look at the Krug hit that one game. WTF was that!? And then the coach (and Backes) has the nerve to be all up-in-arms when stuff doesn't slide their way.
Also, go listen to lost in the light by Bahamas.
And Kapanen for Pesce, Marleau for Martinec, no Hainsey, Gardiner 2 years at 6.5, pry Lee away from NYI so we can drink their salty tears some more. Boom. Leafs ready. |

Gotta say I agree, although I did enjoy the Tampa series and the Leafs Vs Bruins. |

I definitely think Boston gets eliminated in round one if DeBrusk gets called for kneeing and Kadri never gets suspended.

With the Raptors on their run this is probably the most basketball I've watched in my life. I'm watching every single game and my opinion is that the officiating is terribly inconsistent in the NBA as well. |

Inconsistent yes, but not crazy, and no make-up calls the same way as hockey does (I guess due to honour code amongst refs? cool).
Like nothing crazy from last night. A couple missed calls, Pascal got shoved.
Also watching basketball for first time in ages.

I thought first two rounds had some of most fun and exciting hockey I have seen in years
and it has definitely died the last two rounds
the gaps between rounds has more to do with the season lasting too long, they had a long break between conference final and final that was most unnecessary thing ever |

The amount of games is fine but I've been saying for ever now the season should start a month earlier so the most important games of the year aren't being played in june when the ice starts getting a little bit softer and the puck doesn't bounce around as much |

You are correct on it being June and still having hockey. They will never reduce games as it’s $&
They actually used to play playoff games on back to back nights. They did it’s true. Also has best of 3. They can shorten first rd to best of 5 but again $$
poop even baseball tired of seeing it in October |

Hockey season being too long is such a first world problem. |

The idea of a best of 5 really sucks because it will just increase randomness.
What about this: make the season 10 games LONGER. Reduce the amount of playoff teams, make it a three round tournament with best of nine series. |

"First of all, the Playoffs would be so much better if they didn't last so long."
You lost me with your first point. playoffs are the best time of year with the best hockey of the year. You want less of that? Too much time in front of the tele? The duration is just fine. |

Didn't you write a few years ago about how you hated that the same teams were
in the SC Finals now randomness sucks? |

His point was to shorten the regular season, which, I agree with, but owners aren't going to give up 5 extra home games. |

I mean, you could have just said "I'm still bitter the Leafs weren't good enough to get out of the first round" and saved yourself some time.
And by the way, the only people who want the game called by the book are people who've never actually read the rule book. |

Kadri and Debrusk were going at it every game, If Kadri kept his cool and didnt cross check his face, the Leafs still would have folded, because thats what they do.
Weird year, the first round was the best round across the board. |

I like your thinking James, excellent blog. The NHL has become the biggest joke in pro sports. I guess I love hockey so I keep watching but holy man the officiating is so bad it is tough to watch. Also all these video replays to see if a guy was 1/16 of an inch offside 90 seconds before a goal is scored, pathetic. The playoff wildcard is ridiculous, should be 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15 etc regardless of divisions. Nice blog JT

Coming from a douche Blues fan, your team is a joke with the exception of Schenn. I love that guy and the FLyers should be nutted for trading him. James Tanner is arguably the most fun blogger on HB and he is just playing with some of you tools. |
