A rebuilding team with a lot of cap space would gladly take Neal if someone like Bennett or Valimaki was attached to him. A team like Jersey would do that. Now the Flames have tons of cash to spend on guys who will actually help. Sign Zucc. Swap Frolik for Zucker. Get a goalie. Get a real 1C. Figure out why Gaudreau disappears in the playoffs. Simple. |

One season. Zuckers numbers also declined across the board. I would rather take a bet on a guy who isn't being utilized properly and has proven year after year that he can get it done. He's not a 3rd line role playing type. He'd be a top 6 winger in Minny and would at least get the ice time to see if he can rebound. - mnhockeyguy

He's slow, old, and doesn't care now that he got paid. He was given every opportunity to succeed and was spoon fed top six minutes that he didn't deserve all season.
He doesn't generate anything on his own, so I'm not really sure which elite offensive talent the Wild have to attach to Neal to get anything out of him. |

Bennett doesnt have a ton of value. Being a high draft pick that has had 1 decent year and only 2(?) Years of RFA left. He has some potential upside after this year and post-season, but not what the flames fans would expect. Best to bridge him once more and see what they have. Going into the past year i said he was another Yakupov, he proved me wrong, and to be a bit more this year. Let him stick and see what he does. Has more value in YYC right now than anywhere else. He wont be a toss-in in too many situations. |

Most teams would do it if Valimaki was included but is Calgary really looking to do that? |

Would you do Neal & Frolik for Perry & Anaheim's 2nd 1st rounder?
Depending how Perry does this year, you can always buyout that last year of his deal. |

Why would Anaheim even consider that? They're not going to be any good for a couple more years, they have to pay way more real money in the deal, have a much higher cap hit this year, and give up a first round pick. What's the upside for them? Maybe the deal makes sense if you switch which side the first round pick is on. |

Good points but with Frolik, his return is probably even better at the TDL & probably can net themselves a type of Hudler or GlenX type of return for rental of a 2nd & 3rd round picks from a playoff bound team. Neal doesnt have any NT or NMC's where Corey Perry has a NMC which means he has to be protected in the expansion draft. That becomes Flames problem & likely to trigger a buyout of that last year. Frolik & Neal would fit into Anaheim top 9 & they still have to ice a competitive team. So it may not be as farfetched as how you outlined it. |

Maybe if you include the Hawks 2019 1st.
Seabrooks contract with the NMC is the worst in the NHL. |

I don't know that I would characterize his top 6 time as being spoon fed - based on dobbersports, he spent the vast majority of his time away from Backlund/Chucky in 5-5 situations last year... He definitely had time there, but as his play warranted it, he moved down lineup. Most of his time was spent with either the Janko or Ryan led units by the end of the year. |

There are a few guys in that bucket, including Lucic, Clarkson (done this year I think), Bobby Ryan, Kesler...
Toews and Kopitar might as they get into their 33-34 years as well. Part of the reason I think the Flames need to be VERY careful with Mony's next deal. |

He had the 6th most ice time among forwards on the Flames and was their 18th best forward. He got way more opportunities than he deserved to do something and did nothing.

Fair. He's also (freshly signed) paid almost $6M a year and you'd better put that guy in every possible position to succeed. Not saying it's deserved, but you have to try. |
