If there was actually ever a real deal , it would all come down to what the return was. - VANTEL
Although there is 0 luv for LE he can offer more than Lucic does. That said it comes down to a very good sweetener & that’s a min 2nd pick. Even at that 4yrs on a player in his twilight to be polite he is a cap drag with little to no value if he cannot pot 20 goals. That’s too optimistic. I cannot see a deal there unless something very creative can get done. |

At the end of the day, LE still needs to waive his NMC, and I highly doubt he waives to play in that sh*thole. - Codes1087
His NMC is now a NTC so if he doesn't accept a trade he can be sent to Utica, give him a week on a bus to change his mind. |

I’m sure a change of scenery is an easy sell given what he can be forced to accept. |

“ the Oilers would once again have to waste one of their forwards to protect on Lucic... they would not have to do so with Loui Eriksson”
If this goes down, we better be getting a very good asset as well |

Good point. I think it wouldn’t hurt the Oilers nearly as much as it would us if he were protected here. |

NMC - Nighthawk
What is a No-Move Clause (NMC)?
A No-Move Clause (NMC) can be added to a player's contract in the years after they are eligible for Group 3 Unrestricted Free Agency (7 Accrued seasons or 27 years of age), and has the following properties:
Player cannot be traded without his consent (however, the clause can specify a modified no-trade clause that limits the NTC to a certain number of teams)
Player cannot be placed on waivers without his consent
Player cannot be assigned to the minors without his consent
Player is not exempt from a buyout or contract termination
The clause can travel with the player even if he consents to being traded or is claimed on waivers
This requires that the acquiring team sign an addendum to the contract ensuring that the clause does in fact travel with the player (written by the player's agent)
If the acquiring team refuses to sign the addendum, and the player waives his clause anyway, at that point the clause may be nullified
If the player is traded before the clause takes effect, the acquiring team can opt to void the clause

How does that apply to the E-draft?
Eg the Sedins had to be protected.
The key is NO MOVEMENT |

If Lucic is in Edmonton he needs to be protected.
If Benning did trade for Lucic and let him keep his NMC he is beyond stupid.
The NMC only should apply to Edm |

On Boeser...
He hasn’t peaked & has some holes in his game. So offer a bridge or 5yr or max 8?
Bridge @2/6m
5/7m
8/8m
I’m more inclined for the 5yr & stagger the core players re-ups. Also gives the team more flexibility vs locking in longterm which i don’t believe is wise. - Nighthawk
Bridge is dangerous as (frank). He’ll come into camp in top shape and build on the chemistry he had with Pettersson and whoever they upgrade on LW. Pay him NOW before you’re trying to re-sign a 50g scorer. |

Gotcha but why would Lucic waive his NMC?
If he just wants out that’s one thing but he would have to go wherever JB traded him to & idk any team that would take him at that later date with him a dinosaur already. Lastly Seattle would pass on him. |

Lucic wants out of Edmonton. To do that he has to waive his NMC , it does not travel with him unless Vancouver sign a paper to say he can keep it. Why would they?

Doesn't matter if they take him or not Vancouver could still protect 7 other forwards |

That’s the risk no doubt & why JB won’t want that option. I’d think it’s Boeser who would want that if not offered a better longer deal. Getting his arb rights & he will surely get better is what JB would be up against. Like i said i think a 5yr deal is workable or its 8yrs if at loggerheads. |
