Understandable. But Edler’s new contract could (frank) this team up if not done correctly. - bloatedmosquito
He doesn't have one so I am not sure what new contract?
There is a 50/50 chance he walks. |

I bet there was more than one person involved in that Loui signing . I could see the coach the president the owner the GM and two ugly brothers all saying lets get this done. - VANTEL
Didn’t Loui play for JB in Boston? If JB obtains Lucic in an attempt to reconstruct past glory then there is no doubt that he’s a GM without a plan. |

I don't believe that past glory for one bit. I am sure JB knows Lucic sucks now and that it would be an exchange of bad contracts .
Zack MacEwen had 7 fights last year and would be a much cheaper option

I honestly believe Edler will sign a four year deal in TB or SJ. |

If JB is that type of GM he will be gone next year so no big concern

That’s what I’m saying, these suggestions on how to get rid of LE are verging on the ridiculous.
LE was just another example of poor pro player assessment by this management group. It’s becoming a long list. Just live with it and let the contract expire.
If ownership wants to have a positive effect on their team them they should limit JBs ability to spend big bucks on UFAs. - bloatedmosquito
Everyone has an opinion, I disagree that there wasn’t a player evaluation done on everyone that they show interest in.
Eriksson came in on a high to play with the Sedins, Beagle was instrumental with being a shutdown guy that helped win a Stanley Cup. Pouliot was a high first round pick they took a chance on because of his dumbass coach wanted him, but is now walking away from.
I believe I could go on, but we each have our own beliefs, I’m not going to convince anyone otherwise, and there will be perpetual complaints no matter what is stated. |

Didn’t Ohland go that route?
Edler’s a Canuck until he retires. He’ll blink on the NMC but get term and money as compensation. |

If he can land a player like Zucker for example at a reasonable price, add another quality pick, knock on the playoff spot door, he may get another extension. |

I agree, but I’m suggesting their assessment techniques need improving. Whatever metrics they are working with is ignoring the obvious. |

All JB has to do to keep his job is draft NHL players. As long as he keeps finding impact players then he’s safe. |

Benning has added Petey Brock and had Bo already . He fixed the bottom 6 whether fans like it or believe it. The goal tending looks okay and he has a few good young Dmen. He has over 32 mil to fix the rest.
I like where we stand right now.

It’s the $32m to “fix” the rest that worries me. |

Thanks vantel, that is a very reasonable take. I agree, but I think us pessimists are a little too negative and don’t give JB props when called for.

Probably the difference between me and you is you look at the overall job (the five years of Benning) and I look at the last two.
Some people hate the Beagle signing , I don't . |
