I want Boldy and Zegras. But Newhook would be a sweet consolation prize - CanuckDon
I really wouldn't be happy with any of the players they are bringing in. I'd be a bit disappointed. Really disappointed if any of my top 8 are still there. Less disappointed if he traded down and picked up another asset and choice one of them. |

Rick Dhaliwal
Was wondering if the #Canucks would sign prospects Linus Karlsson and Toni Utunen and maybe have them play in North America this season.
Been told both will remain in Europe for 1 more year.
Reid Boucher is in the mix to be re-signed by Canucks but no final decision made yet.
Certainly would have been room for Linus Karlsson to play centre for Utica. Utunen probably would have been too far down the depth charts

The had their starting goalie and their two top Dmen playing for Canucks
And the big plus is they got rid of Gaunce and Loui's 15 goals should help

I honestly don’t care about their team success, it would just be nice to see some actual prospects leading them |

Some new D and goalies. Lind and Gadj a year older . I am curious to see Arsenault who had 3 goals in 6 games. Jasek was trending good last year.
I do care about the Comets and winning unlike Nucker and will follow every game again . |

Any of then would be good, I also like Krebs regardless of the injury. I think it will be pretty hard for then to (frank) up this pick.
That said I don't think there is a lot of really good talent in this draft and that even Hughes is overrated because of how stacked the US group was.
Kakko will be the best player and I wouldn't be surprised if someone who goes 15 is the 2nd best.

I like following them as well but I don't have your enthusiasm. Demko stole a lot of games for them. They won't be good until the mgmt group can get more quality draft picks playing there IMO. Despite Benning being a drafting savant it's amazing that he's only had 2 drafted players be difference makers for the Comets.

That is kind of hard these days . Like last year Hughes played in Michigan the year before Petersson in Sweden. This year Newhook is committed to NCAA.
This year Woo will be in NHL or OHL . Madden will probably play for NE . Lockwood back to Michigan , Rathbone Harvard , Utenen Finland , Karlsson Sweden. |

I get that, and they have had some guys jump directly into the NHL, some deservingly and some not. Some of the guys you mentioned will still likely need time in the minors as well.
Teams that draft well also usually have a well stocked farm team full of prospects. Other than Demko and Markstrom, who was the last player who graduated from our farm team?
Hansen? Tanev? I can't remember who came first?
Edit I guess Kassian but he only played 29 games, I'm not sure he counts.
Look back at the last time this team was good, they had Bieksa, Tanev, Hansen, Edler, Kesler, Burrows, Raymond who had all developed in Manitoba. |

100%. Krebs will be fascinating to follow. He is has the highest “intangibles” in this draft. But the injury and garbage team he played on will likely boot him from the top 10. He could be a first line star or a 3rd line grinder. This will be a fun draft to check back on in a few years |

He was/is an amazing skater, will be interesting to see if he can bounce back from the injury. |

I will guess Sautner will continue to be a Canuck this year , MacEwen may. Jake went down for almost a year. Gaudette played on the Comets .
In 5 years with the Canucks Benning has drafted 6 players currently playing on the Canucks and a bunch more that have all spent time in the NHL Briesbois McCann Tryamkin Forsling |

Jake was sent to fat camp, Gaudette played 14 games and McCann Tryamkin and Forsling played 0 games.
They have consistently tried to use shortcuts to get this team competitive and in the process wasted almost 3 years of development. Joulevi looks like will play in the AHL this year and hopefully is back on track.

Brock 2 years NCAA
Gaudette 2 Years NCAA partial year Comets
Demko 2 years NCAA 2 Years Comets
A year of Comets for Jake
Juolevi one year OHL one year Finland one year Comets
Pettersson one year SHL
Hughes one year NCAA
Comets were in the playoffs 2 years ago and took the Champs to 7 games. They are one year removed in an injury riddled year.
They only one that ws supposedly rushed was Jake out of that group. |

I do agree with your sentiment that things have gotten better, not quick enough for me to be satisfied but improvement is always a positive. |

That’s because you’re becoming more and more subconsciously numb to this team |
