That’s because you’re becoming more and more subconsciously numb to this team

The Canucks are just background noise.

Your apathy is sad....the Canucks are going to be great , and you should be so happy to see and be apart of the coming greatness

There is no doubt the canucks are becoming a great team. This core group will have greatness.
The question is, will there be cup wins?

I get that, and they have had some guys jump directly into the NHL, some deservingly and some not. Some of the guys you mentioned will still likely need time in the minors as well.

Teams that draft well also usually have a well stocked farm team full of prospects. Other than Demko and Markstrom, who was the last player who graduated from our farm team?

Hansen? Tanev? I can't remember who came first?

Edit I guess Kassian but he only played 29 games, I'm not sure he counts.

Look back at the last time this team was good, they had Bieksa, Tanev, Hansen, Edler, Kesler, Burrows, Raymond who had all developed in Manitoba.

I think a large part of it is that within the past 10 years, other countries development programs have gotten so much better. The US development system, the college system, European leagues... teams are more comfortable leaving kids in them to mature, whereas before they’d pull them to their system.

I would say there is something beneficial to learning your teammates and team systems for years before the NHL, though.

Not until we have a Norris quality Dman and a world class goalie.

Hughes is gonna be great but Marky ain't the guy to get us there.

This

I was going to bring that up that there are so many options over the AHL now compared to back in the day of Edler Bieksa development .

Eh, don’t always need a world class goalie. Binnington might just be a flash in the pan. Niemi another one.. Osgood... lots of non-world class guys win the cup. More about getting hot at the right time, and a good D corp/system in front of you.
