Check out the comments on yesterdays blog. There is no way they can go 4-4 at the expansion draft. - youarewrong
Of course they can.

In two years Morin will be worth more to Seattle than Lindblom or JVR or Voracek?
Or worth more than Ghost or Myers if they go 7-3?
That seems very unlikely. |

A dark horse, and this solely/largely depends how he turns out, is Felix Sandstrom. IF he turns out to be a starting goaltender Seattle May hop on that. 🤷‍♂️ |

I'd have to imagine they are pretty high on both of them, you are just assuming they aren't. - ClaudeFather
No that’s 100% wrong as not assuming that at all

So wait until after July 1st. If anything, you would think it would be tougher to sign a guy on the open market because their ears are to all 31 teams in the league. Kimmo Timonen and Scott Hartnell also agreed to the trade and signed within the next 24 hours of their rights being traded.
Kevin Hayes isn’t even a star. - SuperSchennBros
Maybe he isn't a star but then again we're not paying him star money are we? If we sign him to anything more than 7 a year, i think thats an overpay, albeit fair market value. I would like to sign him to a brock nelson type deal, 6 x 6, or at the very worst 6 x 6.5. 6.5 mil a year isn't star money, its very good player money. and he is a good player, who brings a lot to the table, who could also contribute to Patricks development. |

Here is something too.
If you left Voracek and van Riemsdyk unprotected, I believe they will be 31 and 32, is the seattle team taking them at the cap hit they have? Voracek will have 3 more years and van Riemsdyk 2.
I think those expansion teams like to have some flexibility early to kind of shape the roster before getting locked in on big money deals.
Just my thought. - J35Bacher
Thats not what LV did with James Neal. |

So you think protecting Myers is more important than JVR, Jake, and Lindblom? I would argue Lindblom is more developed then Myers at this point. |

Considering Skinner(27) just got 8 years at 9 per for a 60 point season, I don't see Kevin Hayes(27) getting 6 at 6 per a bad deal.
I don't see Hayes falling off a cliff like Lucic or Ladd and think he can still play a role even at 32, 33.

I would. I like Lindblom but I believe Myers has more upside and defenders are much harder to find. |

I believe Myers has a bigger upside. just my opinion.
I think Myers has legit skills to be a top pairing defender eventually. |

I don't disagree at all, but I believe that each of our big 5 (Provorov, Ghost, Sanheim, Myers, Morin) each bring certain skills that none of the others can replace on their own. Myers and Sanheim may have a higher overall package, but when Ghost is on, none of them are as dynamic, and none of them have shown the ability to QB a PP like he can. |

I'm with you that 6x6 isn't a bad deal, but I worry it's closer to 7M per like MJL was saying the other day. I don't think you can necessarily compare the Skinner deal because he's coming off a 40 goal season and he's getting paid for goals. They definitely cost more, even though I think he got overpaid. |

I get it.
But again I like my defense to defend too.
I understand Gostisbehere's game. But I think with more time you'll see Myers and Sanheims offensive games come forward. Again defenders take the longest to develop outside goalies. Both guys were able to produce points in the minors and juniors. They won't be that prolific but I can see where they both start producing offensively.
Also he is only 21. Gostisbehere was 25 when he hit 60 points. Not saying Myers will hit 60 but I could see him in the 40-50 range as his ice time increases. |

I don't think he'll hit 7. I think it is going to be pretty comparable to Nelson. 6 for 6 or maybe 6 for 6.25.
I see 6.5 as the max. |

Of course the guy who is a year older and has played 100 NHL games is more developed than the guy who has played 20.
But a top 4 RHD, which is what Myers looks like becoming, has more value than a middle 6 winger of a similar age. And more value than 30-something top 6 wingers with big cap hits. |

GM speak: that poop is priceless.
Basically they really said was:
We want to make the team better, what part of that do you imbeciles not understand? We aren't gonna give away first round picks and good young players for broke down senior citizens and we probably aren't even being considered by the top FAs.
So yeah, we might trade a pick, we might not. How the (frank) do you really expect us to know at this time anyway you morons? JFC, you idiots are almost as clueless as Scott. I mean, FFS, are we working at signing our RFAs? Seriously?? Of course we are. Do you see a lot of other young, quality RFAs being signed right now? Take your time, google it.
Man, they told the local media were dippoops, but good God! |

If they're going to sign him, I'd prefer to give Hayes 5 x $7m than 6 x $6m.
And he cannot get an NMC, not with Philly possibly needing to go 4-4 in the ED. - Feanor
