GM speak: that poop is priceless.

Basically they really said was:

We want to make the team better, what part of that do you imbeciles not understand? We aren't gonna give away first round picks and good young players for broke down senior citizens and we probably aren't even being considered by the top FAs.

So yeah, we might trade a pick, we might not. How the (frank) do you really expect us to know at this time anyway you morons? JFC, you idiots are almost as clueless as Scott. I mean, FFS, are we working at signing our RFAs? Seriously?? Of course we are. Do you see a lot of other young, quality RFAs being signed right now? Take your time, google it.

Man, they told the local media were dippoops, but good God!

And really you might not be able to move 11 until draft day. A team who wants it wants to make sure the guy or some guys they want can be there.

They will need to see how the start of the draft plays out

If he wants to go out and move that 11 to improve the club he’s going to have to be the one working the phones. This isn’t a top 3 pick.

I don’t expect Fletcher to limit himself and wait for zero hour, and hope a team calls him offering some amazing deal. That’s foolish imo.

Shall see what happens. Either way, clubs needs true talent. Not more mediocrity. I’d hope if he does trade that 11, its in a tier for a guy like Spurgeon or Trouba.

Honestly, I don't know how they keep a straight face having to talk to the morons in the Philly media. The level of cluelessness from most of them is awe inspiring.

True but I get what he's saying. Obviously Hughes and Kakko are going to be the top 2 picks, but after that it gets interesting. Fletcher might have a list of guys that perhaps they rank, oh I don't know, say 3-8 on their list that they really love. As long as one of those guys is still on the board at 11, he may be much less willing to move the pick. I doubt any deal involving that pick gets finalized until right before they are scheduled to make the pick.

When none of them asked about his poopty haircut months ago, I lost all hope.

Just should have said, "No, we don't plan on signing any of our RFA's and we are trading the 11th overall pick for Sidney Crosby. Any more questions about what moves we plan on making?"

It just depends how aggressive he wants to be to move this thing forward. How much pressure is there really from higher up, and if there is - will he succumb to it?

He’s got pieces that teams will want, including the 11. He could arguably make a deal for Trouba/Spurgeon now. An overpay? Who knows.

We will find out a lot in the next month or so about what the future holds. It would make me chuckle a bit to see very little done, keep the 11 and some minor signing after all the rumors.

Not sure what the right answer is, but seems like they are intent on making a run at this with G still as productive as he is.

Yes, there are guys that can drop that might have more potential then Farabee and Frost. I think Podkolzin is a guy who should be in the top 5 but is dropping out because of his KHL contract.

I don't see him a super high-ceiling player but the floor is high on him. Not sure how much he will score in the NHL.

Watch his 17-18 highlights, see anything?
Hard quick accurate wrist shot, not flashy.
Looks like John LeClair to me.

3 dressed up as a 9.

He’s aight, but if it’s going to take a true overpay for Hayes I’d be out. If it’s reasonable by all means. He’s benefitting from an ongoing trend being in a meh UFA class. Hence why drafting is so important.

Personally, I overpay for a higher tier of talent and not somebody like Hayes. Has real potential to be the next AMac.

In regards to podkolzin I liked him so much I was calling him 3rd best player in the draft at one point. He had a bad year and a bad worlds. The reason ? Not sure. He has all the tools to be a stud. But a lot of these kids do. I call him a risk at this point but I absolutely am in love with the upside.
- Tfaehner

He has a lot of Brad Marchand qualities.

Methinks he'll either be the most talented 3rd-liner in the league, or a home run.

Jury's out on his ability to translate skills, nose for puck and compete into actual points.

LeClair was a totally different animal.

Hayes is more of a late-career Keith Primeau.

Custance said it best:

Gostisbehere had a down year last season, so the Flyers would be selling low, which might be why teams are calling. This is a smart management group that would prefer to deal from a position of strength, and one that realizes Gostisbehere is a better player than he showed and that he’s still young and capable of bouncing back. Because of that, it would be better to categorize Gostisbehere under the “teams are calling but they’re not necessarily shopping him” category.

Intrigued by Byron's speed. Believe he played junior hockey with G. He would be a solid PK and 3rd/4th liner. Not sure about Shaw. Not sure about cost (Ghost). Silly season for a reason.

I like the wrist shot. I'd welcome that to our second line. He's big and gets to the net so he would open up space for his linemates.

I mean, it's all a charade. So I don't really know why anyone gets upset about the questions asked by the media or the answers given.

The media have a job to do and some days they just have to do their due diligence and ask the questions they know won't be answered.

So Hayes is 27 and everyone seems worried about him regressing to some pylon.

Yet Gostisbehere is 26 and only going to keep getting better?

Is it purely because of cap hit?

"Keep getting better" and "having a bounce-back year" aren't the same. I don't think people see him evolving into EK, but returning to his 17/18 numbers and play seems reasonable.
