My God. That can't be taken seriously. Two stiffs for Ghost because he had an off year. No thanks
- Hextall271

its even worse than that. Its one or the other for Ghost, not both.

It's funny because people look at Duchene as this super big upgrade on Hayes and yet he is a year older and really only had 70 points last year and 2013. Othere then that he was a 50 point producer basically. But people are ready to pay him 9 million over 7 years.

I don't think Hayes is going to dimish so much he'll be a cone out there. I think over 6 years he'll be solid player, handle heavy minutes and eventually slid to wing or possibly a 3c shut down role.

IMO,Frost is that swift-skating, points-producing 2C we've all been wanting. Just need 6-12 months of patience until he arrives.

Considering Skinner(27) just got 8 years at 9 per for a 60 point season, I don't see Kevin Hayes(27) getting 6 at 6 per a bad deal.

I don't see Hayes falling off a cliff like Lucic or Ladd and think he can still play a role even at 32, 33.

- J35Bacher

Skinner did have a 60 poiint season but he had 40 goals. Goal scorers come at a special premium in this league, and Brock Nelson, who got 6 x 6, had a largely comparable season to Hayes as well. He did have two less points in 10 more games, but playing a full season and not being injured also helps a guys case for durability, something Hayes has not done ever in his career.

i think 6 x 6.5 would be perfect, for all parties. although, if I'm Hayes, I'm going to July 1, since I do expect someone to offer a 7 mil AAV or higher to him.

See there is where we differ.

I think Frost might need a whole season before he is ready. And even once in NHL i don't see how he can be relied on to take a heavy work load.

See I don't think anyone offers him 7. I know center is a premium but I also think teams are becoming a little smarter.

I mean I tried to look at teams, who out there could really offer him 7 and give him the role he would get in Philly(2nd line minutes, PK, probably 2nd unit PP)

If you see one tell me because i drew a blank at where he could really get 7 over 6 years.

I think his path will look closer to G's. Partial AHL season, gets called up as injury replacement, and plays so well that they can't find and excuse to send him back down.

It could happen.

But i don't want to have that be part of a plan. Prefer it more a fall back option.

Honestly, I don't know how they keep a straight face having to talk to the morons in the Philly media. The level of cluelessness from most of them is awe inspiring.

Honestly don't see it as much of a gamble.

Frost is so proficient at every aspect of the game offensively... shoots well, passes well, can score from distance, can score from either side of the ice, knows when to go to the net, great in transition, great on entries, sees the ice so well.

Unlike Patrick, I think he's gonna be a turnkey offensive force.

He coasted in junior though, turning his speed on and off, dancing through people. NHL he will have to be going at almost all times, he's gonna need some time to set his pace

So then why didn't he go number 2? Why did he end up in the back of the 1st round?

I am not saying he won't be a good player. But i think you have some unrealistic expectations for him.

Junior pace of play is different then NHL. Even AHL will be different for him.

Pace is key, most of the time he was moving slow, coasting in junior.

I mean I don't doubt he will be good.

But I am not looking for him to come in next year and be an instant impact player. While still also looking for Patrick to develop and a young defense.

Same, I just think he will need at least a year of seasoning.

Not sure you actually watched him. He wasn't dancing and dangling around like a Drouin or Schremp.

He was playing pretty much a pro game offensively. He doesn't keep the puck on his stick for very long. He passes and shoots quickly. He doesn't stay on the perimeter. Even on breakaways, he's not doing a bunch of dumb poop, just making his move and roofing it.

And Issac Ratcliff scored 50 goals and is 6'6''. But again it was against juniors players.

There will be a transition from junior to AHL and even again to NHL.

Are we really still judging people by where they were taken in the draft at Draft+2?

Here's is what i see. And just my opinion.

Gostisbehere isn't fast. He is shifty and quick twich but not really fast at all. I would say Myers and Sanheim are way better skaters.

Gostisbehere, who is a defensman, needs to be more active in his own zone. He doesn't need to man handle a guy on the boards but there needs to be mroe compete and better awareness in his own zone.

At times he can be good when reading the game and anticipating. When he's playing well you see that. but too many times I feel he gets lost in the zone and loses his man or responsibility and sometimes too quick to try and leave the zone.

He will always be a guy to push the envelop and try to make plays. Almost like what got Konecny in trouble early on. I feel Gotisbehere needs to be better with the puck and just find a greater consistency in his game. I don't want one good season followed by a down one.

Everyone in here would probably say they would take Gostisbehere over Torey Krug, but thing is Krug has been a pretty consistent player while producing around 40-50 points a year.

- J35Bacher

I would take Krug ahead of Ghost, if you’re looking for a more complete game.

In terms of disagreeing on whether or not Ghost is fast, who do you consider fast? I mean, it’s a fast game and Ghost seems to keep up well, I just find him to be lazy when it comes to detail away from the puck. I don’t think Ghost is as fast as McDavid or Larkin but I do think Ghost is pretty fast but I suppose it depends on who you are comparing Ghost to. Ghost isn’t slow.

playing devils advocate he sees patrick here and all of 20 years old. maybe he doesn't like that scenario either.
