It’s a dumb statement but blah, blah, blah.
Schenn’s first season with the blues, he has a career high of 70 points. His second he wins a cup. Both years he’s centering the top line. I have news for year, we didn’t know what to do with him. He was a winger most of his time here. Now we expect what? Kevin Hayes to offer the same impact? I’m not trying to be a jerk but we traded away players that could have been good for us, the Flyers, in the prime of their careers.
I wanna win and I’m sick of the excuses, as if we’re doing right. - SuperSchennBros

Flyers also traded Carter to Columbus. What he did in LA is kind of moot imo. - hereticpride
Agreed, if you go back, the real clear loser was Columbus. Gave up Jake and a 1st that became Couturier for Carter. They then traded Carter for Jack Johnson...ouch. |

Hayes, plus Frost and Farabee. If you want to be fair about it.
I don't the Flyers were a Schenn away from contending for the cup anyway so it's kind of a useless argument. |

Essentially giving Schenn's cap space to Hayes. You could sub JVR for Hayes as well I suppose. |

They were truly remarkable. I’d like to know if throughout any of the major sports in modern times that a team won the championship that was sitting dead last in the league as late as the blues were - Just5
Off the top of my head I can’t think of any. That Flyers 09-10 team was bad enough that they fired Stevens in November in favor of Laviolette and then finished two wins short of Lord Stanley. That’s honestly the closest I can think of, but even then, were they close to bottom of the standings that year? |

No not close. Early january I believe it was that the blues were dead last. It’s unfathomable and I don’t think it’s gotten it’s due attention. |

Schenn had multiple opportunities with top six minutes to do something while with the Flyers, and he didn't. Now, I will say he's playing with better players than the Flyers with St. Louis. Am I disappointed he didn't pan out here? Sure. But if Morgan Frost or Joel Farabee score the GWG in the Stanley Cup Final, I'll call it a moot point.
Super happy for Berube though. |

Well-played game by Binnington and the Blues. Congratulations to Berube, Schenn, the Blues and all their fans! When I imagined the miracle cup winner of 2019 back in January, I was kind of thinking of another team in the same place in the standings. Good for the Blues for believing, putting in the work and staying in it till the end! Game 7 win. Way to go. Play Gloria!

What’s so hard about understanding that we’ve traded away players we shouldn’t have before or within the prime of their careers. Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, James Van Riemsdyk, Brayden Schenn, Justin Williams, Patrick Sharp, Scott Hartnell.
You also have to factor in the return. Carter and Richards return was great but outside of that, we may as well have kept what we had. We traded Brayden Schenn an hour after drafting Nolan Patrick. So excuse me if I disagree and believe we would have been better suited with Schenn and Patrick on one team.
Hartnell for Umberger, are you kidding me?! JvR for Luke Schenn, huh?
We have talent but in terms of dynamic and clutch players. Giroux and Voracek are what’s left. I believe if the right deal is made for both sides, a kid like Nazem Kadri is the way to go. A player that is capable of controlling the play. Not perfect but capable. |

Happy for schenn but it doesn't mean that trade was a loss. Timing wise when the trade was made we didn't have solid goaltending nor top end d like St. Louis possesses. We simply couldn't have gone for it. It all fell together for them with binnington emerging but at mid season they looked like a train wreck.
They decided their window was now and it worked out. We won't know the winner for sure until the pieces we got back are in the NHL and we see what we have. I still have no issue with the deal from a flyers perspective.

I don't get the whole anger because a player was moved and won elsewhere. Who cares. Was the player a Flyer at one point. Sure. But did he have multiple chances to win. Sure.
Most of the guys mentioned had multiple season in Philly to win. Things happen, coaches and GM's change, plan for team changes.
I mean the Conn Smyth winner was shipped out of Buffalo and pretty much labeled a guy you can't win with. So every team moves players and they win else where.
If anything the one thing I wonder is did Hextall have the right coach and just didn't give him the pieces to succeed?

I’d do the Carter and Richards trades again in a heartbeat. I wasn’t opposed to trading Hartnell it’s the return that was terrible.
JVR for the other Schenn was a terrible trade. |

Knowing the trouble Richie was having it was a smart trade. Hartnell was a terrible return for a salary dump and agree about the jvr trade. |
