Not really bullish on him being a viable NHL player yet. He's one guy that probably needs a lot of refining at LHV.

Lot of the plays he scored on in juniors would have been snuffed out in the pros. Down the wing, wrister from distance kind of stuff. He does a lot of crossing over the middle with the puck, and that would get him murdered with how upright he skates.

He'd need to adapt to a more net-front role probably. Even then, he might have trouble digging pucks out of his feet, etc. His stick isn't the quickest. But that wingspan could be a big advantage in establishing position and keeping the puck out of reach.

Thanks. Appreciate your post. Seeing as how I wasn't even sure whether Radcliffe was a center or wing, you can tell I don't pay too much attention to the prospects until they at least make it to the Phantoms. And even then I don't follow too closely. Reading Bill's &your guys' assessments of the prospects pre-Flyers careers is one of the main reasons I come to this site.

Hate to start the day with a negative post, but I do find it kind of ironic that the coach that Hexy fired to bring in his hand picked Hakstol, and the first member of the "rotten core" that the team cut ties with just won the cup... makes perfect sense.

It’s a dumb statement but blah, blah, blah.

Schenn’s first season with the blues, he has a career high of 70 points. His second he wins a cup. Both years he’s centering the top line. I have news for year, we didn’t know what to do with him. He was a winger most of his time here. Now we expect what? Kevin Hayes to offer the same impact? I’m not trying to be a jerk but we traded away players that could have been good for us, the Flyers, in the prime of their careers.

I wanna win and I’m sick of the excuses, as if we’re doing it right.

Are we not calling o'Reilly the smythe winner their top center anymore? He played 21 minutes a game leading the team, led the team in points, schenn had 18 minutes in the playoffs and a whopping 12 points. Bozak and sundquist nother guy they acquired because schenn as 1c was extremely flawed. Bozak out scored him. Schenn had 1 game winning or game tying point all playoffs. In 5 of 7 games vs the Bruins he had less ES ice time than bozak and sundquist. He had a negative corsi, -2, and got heavy o zone starts. Sundquist even played more in crucial game 7.

Hes a flawed player your in love with. A complimentary piece that made the flyers better today yes but ultimately nowhere near the contention we needed to be. The trade if frost and farabee turn into what they have the potential for (they could be Giroux and gagne though I know that's max ceiling) nobody will ever cry over schenn departure.

That being said hes a good guy who was always nice to me in our interactions and I'm happy for him. And I'm absolutely over the moon happy for chief.

O’Riley is their top center but O’Riley didn’t play on the top line. O’Riley also has played one season with the Blues. You expect the same impact from Hayes?

I’d do the Carter and Richards trades again in a heartbeat. I wasn’t opposed to trading Hartnell it’s the return that was terrible.
JVR for the other Schenn was a terrible trade.

I can’t argue this.

Hayes, plus Frost and Farabee. If you want to be fair about it.

I don't the Flyers were a Schenn away from contending for the cup anyway so it's kind of a useless argument.

First off, I agree with this take on the trade. Why can't a trade be a good trade for both teams?

I'll just add, are the Flyers a Hayes away from contending for the Cup?

No, I think the flyers are a Hayes and a top 4 dman away from contention. If Hart plays like he did last year then goaltending finally won't be a concern.

But you never know. 60 pts from a true 2c last year, allowing G to play win the whole year, and average goaltending would probably have been enough for the playoffs, maybe the second round

2c, top 9 wing, quality back up goalie, top 4 d man and continued progression from the kids away from contention

I think that is misguided and wishful thinking. I like Hayes and he's a good player but he doesn't move the bar. Doesn't change that the goalie is 20 years old. That the defense is very young. Who is the top 4 D man they're going to get? Victor Hedman?
