You may not know the name Matthew Savoie just yet, but you will soon. The 15-year old forward was selected first overall in the 2019 WHL Bantam draft, despite having committed to the University of Denver. The Winnipeg Ice—newly relocated from Kootenay—took a chance on Savoie anyway, and have now convinced him to sign and play in the CHL. Playing in the CHL means Savoie would no longer be eligible for the NCAA, as they consider it a professional league since various players have already signed their NHL entry-level contracts.

I'm pretty excited that WHL is coming to Wpg. A bit more of a family friendly environment for the kids. Maybe Van picks Peyton Krebs and I can go see him lots this season.

Not in today’s nhl. He was also not a top10 scorer in the league if youd liike a more direct comparable across time. Schenn is also arguably a star, bottom line is this is a very talented and deep team. The 82 team was not.

Don’t hate the new uni’s, glad the “VANCOUVER” is gone. Really like the green C in the stick in rink, not crazy about how plain the sweater is though.

I’m perfectly fine with the Orca, not crazy about it, but don’t hate it either. It’s a great representation of where we live. Which is why McCaw named his company Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment, because it represents the Pacific Northwest.

This is what happens when you get a franchise with no tradition, no history to celebrate. They’re directionless and always searching.
