I wouldn't do that.
I think trading a 1st round pick at this point is detrimental to the organization for that kind of return. That 1st round pick could look pretty good in 3 years.
We have a young offensive talent coming to our blue line, let's let him show what he can do. - golfingsince
I’d do next years pick. Keep this one. When you get a sure fire top 4 nhl d man versus a question mark outcome. I’m betting safe on that one. Too each their own though. I’m also biased against the player. Been a huge fan of Ghost since he broke into the league. |

Do you think Ghost gets us into the playoffs as the roster is currently constructed? I don't. Therefore, I certainly don't want to part with a lottery pick......what if it actually moves up for once?
Like you said, to each their own. |

Him and Colin Miller. That’s my d wish list ask this off-season. No more Loui is a give in also. - Supirium99
I may be thinking a little too much into it but
they could make 2 trades for 2 defenseman next week. They have opportunity in the top 4, it's a team that definitely will be on the list."
When I read that, I think players with clauses in their contracts that control where they go.
Zaitsev and Justin Schultz both have m-ntc 10 team lists. TJ Brodie has an 8 team no trade list.
Zaitsev and Brodie have been rumoured and Pit has talked about shedding salary. |

No not ghost alone but he helps a ton.
That first is always protected, every time/ trade I’d make including one for me. Guess I should have went deeper with the offer. |

I personally think many of our hopes for next season hinge on the play of 2 very young, undersized players. To me it's just as likely we regress next season as move forward.
I think the timing is all wrong. |

Fair enough. I think we have more than two good players. This off season seals Jimbos fate. He’s gonna go balls deep to try to save his job. Personally believe he’s going to make a big move this off season. I was offering a just the tip scenario. One can hope. |

Balls deep aka serious offer to Panarin.
Backed up by a solid trade. Picks or? Idk
D seems so tough to get so not betting on it. How the cap gets used or not who knows. |

I think one of the things is people / fans still look at this team with a Hutton/ Pouliot back end and a Granlund Sven top 6.
I expect some big movement this year starting with saying goodbye to Loui. I don't see them bringing back the undesirables .
I am curious to see if Canucks put Spooner on buyout tomorrow? They save 2 mil in cap next year . It would be a 1.03 mil cap hit for 2 years .
I think Canucks will do some house cleaning this year and start keeping the best of the team only and have the cap space to make things better.
Karlsson was in Vamcouver today BTW lol |

I think everyone on this thread can agree we have more than 2 good young players. I can't even fathom a season if we lose Horvat. I was just mentioning the 2 youngsters of slighter build. |

I guess much depends on what happens with LE. Are we taking back some crappy cap hit in return?
I'd rather sign EK to a shorter deal than trade capital for Ghostibere, but i doubt he takes a big discount to play in Vancouver.
If the team does add enough, that will likely entice Edler to take less for shorter term which is actually a positive despite what many think.
I have no doubts JB is going to try and get the team in the playoffs, his job may literally depend on it.

2 things i’d like to see is more team speed & improved zone exits. Dogging the puck should be better. The rest will be up in the air depending on how the roster shapes up. |

Yep, a for sure huge offer to Panarin. Backed up by a trade for a d man or two. Cap space and a Jimbo with a job on the line, it seems inevitable to me. |

That’s not what he said though...
Also, trading 1st round picks is moronic. |

Training camp should be very competitive. Players should sense the urgency & seize the chance. No reason to think jobs are given out but only earned. |

Me personally I don't care a hoot about Karlsson but I sure hope the Panarin rumors are true.
I think Edler will need to take a leap of faith and do a deal like you mentioned a few weeks ago 2 year deal and then talk again. It doesn't sound like Benning is giving him a three year deal.
My feeling is I don't think Benning is on a short leash unless they have a bottom 5 finish.

I'd rather stay away from Karlsson as well, Panarin is more intriguing.
I think Edler will eventually re-sign once he realizes that the 2 year deal is the only way.
I think if Benning were not on the hotseat than he'd already have another extension in place. |

I think if he was in trouble would you put him in charge of the bankroll and give a pile of blank contracts?
This is going to be one of their most important off seasons in history. I think he would have been gone by now if they were going in a different direction? |

He'll be gone if he screws it up, which he might. All I know is if he makes this a cap team and doesn't make the playoffs he's going to get fired. |
