Yep, a for sure huge offer to Panarin. Backed up by a trade for a d man or two. Cap space and a Jimbo with a job on the line, it seems inevitable to me. - Supirium99
Why is his job on the line again? |

Because he's starting his 6th season with the club and the only time they've made the playoffs is with a club he largely inherited.
So if he can't either make the playoffs or deliver more stud prospects than he's a likely casualty. |

His job was/is to replace the old core, seems to be doing pretty well at it. He only really started when aquaman finally caved on the retool. Sutter and LE are both retool moves, but since he’s actually made some decent moves. Just my opinion, i know thinking JB is competent and getting better is unpopular on here but idgf |

He'll be gone if he screws it up, which he might. All I know is if he makes this a cap team and doesn't make the playoffs he's going to get fired. - golfingsince
Unlike four of the other five years where he was in charge, they spent to the cap, and didn’t make the playoffs?
Edit, I guess it’s only 3 of five, because they did make the playoffs in year 1.

If that was the case don't you think he would have a contract extension by now? |

Why are you so desperate for attention with this basketball thing? I’m not a basketball fan, I’ve never watched a game in my life, however, good for the Raptors and their fans. Winning championships is hard to do. But this is the Canucks thread, head over to the Leafs thread if you wanna lick their balls, we’ll be discussing Canucks related material here lol. - Pacificgem

About one of the worst in the league, if all of the defense are healthy then in the middle of the pack.
The problem is with both Tanev and Edler gone for more than half a season Green has to overplay Gudbranson, Stecher, Hutton and for a large portion of last year Pouliot. The Canucks “D” depth is not good enough to rely on when their two best go down.
I thought Schenn was a pleasant surprise but he was used sparingly, the way I thought Stecher and the others should be used. I would like to see Schenn return again to see if he could be the stay at home physical presence needed.
I know most here like Stecher and Hutton for their offensive rushes but man those two get burned so many times pinching in and as a last line of defense it pisses me off..
Edit: I would keep Stecher around and like to see him play 15-18 mins a night, then he could be discussed as a #4, he wouldn’t be pressured to be relied on to do something he doesn’t have the skill set to do. |

Good answer and I agree. But I meant rank the D in order. Top to bottom |

Tough to do Don, Gudbranson is gone, Pouliot is gone, Edler is a ufa, so that leaves Tanev, Stecher, Biega, Hutton, so by this list Stecher is a 5 dressed up as a two |

You can sugar coat it all you want but he’s right ...he’s been in Van a while now ...and if they have a bad year next he could be gone |

He's on the hot seat man
how many GM's with a decent leash and high trust from ownership go into the draft and free agency with only 1 year left on their contracts?

considering some of the other topics that get discussed in here, I don't understand the anger over the NBA finals being discussed a bit.
I get that some of you hate Toronto with a passion, but considering the viewership ratings and the amount of packed viewing parties from coast to coast, it's safe to say that this was more than a Toronto thing. The Raptor players, coaches, management themselves even mentioned Canada more than Toronto in their interviews last night. |

It's a "show me something or this is your final lap" or the leash may soon look like this:

Stecher is our best dman (proven) under contract. I know it’s gross Mackey but that’s our sad reality as Canuck fans |

Maki he played 4 all year and did very well. You’re hate is documented, but not too warranted given how he has actually performed. |
