I kind of go back and forth on the playoff experience thing. It doesn't hurt, but I'm not sure how much it helps. The only reason the Sabres fell in 05-06 was because they were down to their 9th defenseman. And they were loaded with rookies. And then were simply outplayed the next year despite all that experience. - Wetbandit1
Disagree on that. I believe it’s invaluable. Of course you’ll have an anomaly here and there but the more these guys are there the better prepared they are imo. |

YOU ARE HYPOCRITE
“He’s having an awful playoffs”
Thinking we should’ve moved a guy good enough to win the Conn Smythe is f#cking stupid
We need more guys like him

Congrats to ROR, Chris Thorburn, Jordan Nolan along with St Louis Blues in a job well done.
(And honestly that’s all that needs to be said. The b!tching and moaning about “The trade” needs to end.) |

Yep and if you don’t win your players gain playoff experience. - Cptmjl
Bruins had more experience. This was Chara’s 14th career Game 7 actually, true story. Binnington and ROR had a combined 13 games of playoff experience before this years playoffs, another true story. Binnington was a rookie goaltender and Calder candidate playing the single most important position in the NHL playoffs.
If you want to extend this to other professional sports, somebody forgot to tell Sony Michel that he was a rookie RB before he put together 71 attempts for 336 yards in the NFL playoffs this year. That’s a 4.73 YPC and an average of 112 yards per playoff game btw.

So they had playoff experience. Gotcha. Bruins made it to the finals and lost. It happens. Should the bruins have tanked because they didn’t win? That’s the real question😂
As far as extending this discussion into other sports you’re having a hard enough time with hockey. Maybe just focus on that for now. |

It’s really all complete dog poop.
The Blues were 6 inches on a Jaime Benn wraparound attempt in game 7 to being out in round 2.
Build a good team that’s sustainable, get some luck along the way, hope to win a cup |

No, because they are on their last legs also. If the Isles were better off winning a playoff round this year then adding a a top 10 pick to that roster for the long haul then that’s your choice and you're entitled to your own opinion. I think other wise. I’m still waiting for the rest of your response to my post on the previous page and the rest of this one though since I’m so wrong about everything. |

Henrique missed a wide open net as well. Would of ended the game in regulation. |

I’m still waiting for you to reply to my post about you originally saying the Sabres wouldn’t win the cup with O’reilly and then changing it to them not winning the cup “this year” with O’reilly. Also, I replied to your post. Do you actually think there was some ground breaking content in there? |

Blues will regret winning the cup this year they could have had themselves a top ten pick. That ROR contract will be real bad for them down the road. |

I still think ROR is going to decline rapidly, however the Blues made the trade to win now and they won their cup so kudos to them and in the end that’s all that matters. I did not think the Blues would win the cup, so I’ll fall on the sword. Happy ?
The Sabres were devoid of many meaningful assets, still are. The 7th OA pick is one way of adding a elite talent to the group so that when our time comes we can hopefully get over the hump.
If you want to celebrate a 2nd round playoff exit that’s your choice. I’m a fan of a football team that fired their coach after 4 straight AFC West Chanpionships and a 12-4 record. They won the Super Bowl the next season. Without a #2 overall pick named Von Miller the Broncos don’t win a Super Bowl. Without top 5 picks the Blackhawks and Penguins don’t win cups. The Blues won going a different route, however that doesn’t mean that building your roster though high picks is all of a sudden a very flawed method of roster building. |
