I agree with you, I don't know for fact, but I stated earlier about how IMO the circumstances certainly back a case to be made about Jason's hands being tied...and he had to make a deal before the Bonus was payable on July 1st ... Army called Jason's bluff and forced a sub-market-value trade (no Thomas, no Kyrou, take cap dumps to offset the Bonus)

Interestingly enough, from an article on The Athletic about the trade...

We weren’t able to get anything done there. We tried during the talking period but still couldn’t get a deal done. And that might have been it, but Botterill called again later on July 1. Finally, the pieces fit together.

I get it. It’s one reason I believe in what Hommie has mentioned a number of times, the Pegula meddle. Yes, they saved the teams, forced development of the city (which is amazing), but they’ve been told by consultants to back off the team interference, hire your hockey and football people and let them hockey and football.

I hope they are still “learning”. And I do like the direction both teams are going, currently...
