It’s like people don’t want to acknowledge this - OneKaneOneCup
Bc it’s still a crappy point
Duchene wanted out of Colorado for a while
Yet Sakic made him wait until there was a deal Sakic liked
Yzerman made Drouin wait to get out of Tampa till he got the deal he liked
Maybe Botts got the deal he liked too
But it was a bad deal
I get that u hated ROR so much that u had blinders on... but u were wrong
Berglund was NOT fast
Sobatka was NOT quality depth
And Tage was NOT an “a” prospect
If we’d have gotta an actual GOOD RETURN,
instead of GARBAGE...
then it would be a different story
Was it Botts’ fault? Or the Pegulas?
Idk
And i don’t care
Bottom line is that we gave up a really good player for spare parts (at the moment)
The picks are a coin flip, and i don’t have much faith in Tage...
let’s hope we get lucky for once |

Ok.
If this is the ROR that continues this level of play you were 1000-% right and I was dead wrong.
The deal worked out fantastic for STL. They won the cup.
It’s hard for me to argue the return anymore. I concede |

I wonder if San Antonio is freaking out right now - OneKaneOneCup
Possibly, but I doubt it. Leonard is probably still going to LA after this year. |

So again: if Pod is still on the board at 7, do the Sabres draft him? - LandlordTom
Its really becoming a Boom or Bust pick. He is a really intriguing player with a grit and power to his offense game. He's a Whirling Russian Torpedo.
Unfortunately he speaks ONLY Russian, under Contract for Two Years.
We have not put ourselves in a position to risk it, which is why I hope he goes before 7 so we don't have to make the decision, because when he whens Conn Smyth we will be bombarded as to our failure as human beings for not Drafting him LOL , but seriously, I believe we go Center in a Deep Forward laden draft, and hope to get one of
1 Dylan Cozens
2 Kirby Dach
3 Zegras/Caufeild/Body/Krebs |

Leaning towards Caufield myself,
Bc we have a big need for guys that put the puck in the net
Besides Skinner & Jack,
we have no one with 30goal potential
Maybe Olofsson?
But that’s still not enough |

I want no part of Duchene or Hayes.
They need to get a solid 3C that can chip on offense and let Mitts grow |

I’ll let it go if you do... fair enough?
It’s just frustrating to see us shipping out good players & bringing in guys that aren’t really much help
Besides Skinner, and maybe Montour (I’m on the fence with him)...
we haven’t really added much to the “core” (Jack, Dahlin, Sam?, Risto?) of a team we want to contend for Cups
“Probably” Mitts, but he’s not a sure thing
We just keep bring in crap
And it’s super frustrating

Agreed
If we are adding a Center,
then it’s gotta be a guy with a strong 2way game
Otherwise,
just be patient & let Mitts develop |

I mean we are going into year 3 with Botts behind the wheel, ROR trade aside, he has done extremely well imo. He left Murray’s mess together for one more season instead of blowing it up and it got us a franchise #1 d-man. Mittelstadt is going to be a big time player in this league, it takes some longer then others but he has top 6 stud written all over him. He turned a rental in E.Kane and Guhle into Montour which for now looks like a win unless Guhle turns out to be a stud. He turned a useless prospect and 3 mid round picks into a 40 goal scorer (even with him being overpaid that’s still a win).
If UPL continues on his trajectory we have a #1 goalie, Samuelsson, Bryson, Laaksonen, Pekar, Weissbach all look like they have NHL potential. We also have a 7th OA pick to add to the mix and a poop ton of cap space after this season due to him not handcuffing us (yet)
I hate Scandella but it’s better then having Ennis’ buyout and Foligno still on the payroll and we got a good year out of Pominville and a feel good story.
I’m not a fan of Sheary but for a 4th round pick that’s a win as well.
Hopefully Tage turns out and we use the 31st pick and the 2021 2nd rounder to soften the blow of the ROR deal but as long as we continue to draft well and spend our money wisely we still have a strong future regardless. |

I’m gonna still project Mitts to become a really good 2C
But while Botts did make that pick...
Mitts fell to us unexpectedly
Idk how much credit he deserves for that?
If you’re a good GM, u need to be hitting on your 1st round picks... especially Top10
Almost all the guys u mentioned are still big “IFs”
We really don’t know what they’ll become
Let’s look at our “Core” right now...
Botts deserves credit for Skinner & Montour
But there are question marks with them
You have major reservations about Skinner
And Montour needs to play better in his own end if he’s gonna be a top4 defenseman on a Cup team
Other than that...
we are waiting on a bunch of “maybes”
Botts hasn’t really done much that I’ve loved
But i do wanna see what happens this offseason
Bc if he can swing a couple more good deals like he did with Skinner (take advantage of teams in Cap trouble)...
then i think we could get back on track quickly

duchene would be perfect here
very fast, high energy center
if casey goes to the wing so be it
for the next 3 years, we would be much better with duchene then casey as second line center, and you then slotted a winger for your second line |
