This is just the start....

The season ended two days ago and Stan still hasn’t made a move.

In typical fashion he’s asleep at the wheel.

Karlsson rumored to be offered 8yr/$88M contract from San Jose. If true, what the hell are GMs thinking? The guy will be 37/38 at the end of it and he is already starting to break down.

Any of you all go to the Hawks' Cup Parades, especially the 1st one?

Any takes on where is a better spot to be? - On the parade route, on the grassy knoll where they will be speaking, etc.

Also, about how long did they usually last from start to finish? 3 hours? More?

Side note - I need to remember to figure out if they are going to enforce the open container laws for the parade, lol.

- Jason Millen

We didn't see much from the parade route. We were at a point where they kinda shot by.

I'd try to stake out a spot where they disembark and have the rally. Trying to move to another spot in that crowd of people will be near impossible. Enjoy and have fun.

Interesting read, Avalanche Draft Day Strategies.
Avalanche Director of Amateur Scouting, Alan Hepple, provided some insights on how they are preparing for this year’s draft.

It's worth the risk if they can get 3-5 good years out of him and a chance at the cup.

Plus, if the cap goes up an average of $3m, it'll be over $100m towards the last few years and so he'll be around 7% cap share or less group.

Right, but I can’t see anyone else going that far (I’m fully aware that this is simply my incredulity). This stinks of Seabrooks’ contract.

Sabre’s have hired Don Granato and Mike Bales as assistant coaches. The pair joins assistant coach Steve Smith as members of Head Coach Ralph Krueger’s staff for the 2019-20 season.

If the rumors are true, that is $26 mil. tied up for 3 defenseman (Burns and Vlasic), for the next 6 years, and $70 mil, in salary next year with only 16 players signed.

Not a great contract but not too bad either. Not the type of contract I want Stan to commit to.

Thanks all for the well wishes and the info. We were thinking the grassy knoll was the way to go. The Depends thought is an interesting one. I get that it makes sense and all but

I find it hilarious The Raptors won a title before the damn leafs. You guys can bash STL all day long, but the hatred for that organization up in Ontario is much higher.

Suck on that Babcock and Shanahan...a franchise that wasn't even around the last time you made the conference final just won a title before your overrated @sses!!!!!!!

It's interesting to see how much basketball has taken over in Toronto. I haven't lived there in a while but when I did the Raptors were just as popular as the Leafs. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Raptors take over as the city's #1 sports team now.

As if the cap situation weren't bad enough already in Chicago, the other GMs handing out these insane deals are setting the market to ensure the cap woes here will continue for some time.

I just can't stand the Leafs…...have always hated them and will always hate them. The arrogance in that city is hilarious as they haven't won a damn thing in decades and won't any time soon....plus the Canadian media/hockey love child.....Babcock, hasn't won a playoff series there yet......Love it.

Sadly they will find a sucker to take Marleau and sign Marner and be the same young exciting offensive team that has a D that rivals the Hawks.....maybe all the Leafs are missing is Brandon Saad?

This isn't new.

I think the cap situation is fairly good in Chicago. Strome and Debrincat are the only semi-immediate concerns. Both are RFA and Stan has the cap space to re-sign them both.

If extra cap space is needed Stan can deal Anisimov, Saad and/or Murphy easily. Note: I am not advocating any trades, these guys just don't have a NTC.

The path to address the team needs at forward is clear, but I am really interested to see how Stan upgrades the defense this off season.

yeah what I fear is bowman is going to make a move for the sake of making a move...signing Gardiner or Hayes (if he wont' ink in Philly) to asinine deals.

I thought that was pretty good value for Eberle who is one year removed from a 60 point season and is typically good for 20 goals a season. On top of that, he's been a possession driver for NYI and is slightly above average defensively now. Around 6% of the cap for that type of player is solid. For the Hawks, I'd have like to shave a year or $500k off but otherwise it would have been fine.

I agree and I'd sign AD asap.

Strome....Id take a flier on and see how he starts the year before committing to him long term.

Fact they are sniffing around Hayes, if true, tells you they may not be so gung ho on Strome LT as some think they are.....

Yeah. Don't see how he can do both - quickly anyway.

Can certainly sign ADB/Strome - issue will be what the market + their performance next year might entitle them to. My thinking now is they will be fortunate to lock them both up for under $15MM AAV combined. Doesn't leave a lot of room - at these prices - to add much in the way of FA mid-level, let alone upper end talent.
