As much as I'm glad that they lost, I have to say that the Bruins were a great team this year and appear to have a very bright future.

It's no fluke they got to the SCF, as they would have won any other division with the 107 points that they got in the regular season, and then mowed down their two opponents in the 2nd and 3rd rounds after a nail-biter in the first.

lost in game 7? probably need to fire the coach, GM and trade half the players. Am I doing this right?

I think you are talking about the Buffalo Sabres here. But then again, the Sabres in a game 7 in the playoffs?

Congrats on a great series. A throwback against a tradition rich franchise.

I always felt like the Bruins were just a little bit better team than the Blues, but that the Blues could possibly win if everything broke right.

Boston has owned St. Louis in every sport since 1967. The Celtics over the Hawks, the Bruins over the Blues, the Pats over the Rams and the Sox over the Cards, twice.

It's been a long time coming, but this one feels really good.

Much respect.....I would have begrudgingly been happy for David Backes had the Bruins prevailed, I'm happier now.

No skin in this game, but fitting that the biggest line stepper in the NHL may have been the guy who caused this game to get out of hand for the B's.

you see this stuff all the time: one team dominates can't get it past a goalie who makes save after save and then the team getting dominated finds the net on the few chances they had...

the 2nd late goal was the killer...can't go off for change with only seconds remaining and the attacking team in transition...petrangelo made a great backhand flip shot up and over stick side. rask took away the lower part of the net as he should have...

tough break...bruins were my cup choice since R1. never expected the blues to get anywhere near a cup let alone win it...but they were very good 5 on 5 with relentless physical forecheck...

I was watching with my girlfriend and said the exact same thing right before the first goal. She just looked at me. I wish I had a mic to drop.

That's correct, and you're welcome.

The Hawks moved from St. Louis to Atlanta the same year as the Blues came into the NHL.

This will sting for a while indeed. Still though, so many bright spots on this exciting run...McAvoy,Carlo, Gryz, Kuraly with big goals, Wagner was a beast until injured, Coyle and Johansson were phenomenal in the playoffs. The big 3 up front and Rask being stellar. (yeah, 2 questionable ones in game 7 but Binnington looked pretty weak on several goals in the 2 games we blew them out.
Now, the real spotlight is on Sweeney to address the shortcomings of a true #2 center and another scoring winger to play top 6.
The encouraging thing with that is last summer they were in on Tavares, so you'd have to at least think he knows he needs more out of the center position.
Proud of ya boys...thanks for a great run. You gave 'er your all and should be proud.

Great series by both teams. Battled hard and played an old school style hockey. Glad no serious injuries. Could have gone either way. Blues came out on top. Binnington saved us in the 1st. Without that it could have been an easy win for Boston. Team that scored first seemed to win.

Boston I will be back rooting for you come October. Now I will sit back and enjoy the summer for the first time in 30+ years of watching hockey(besides 2011). This time it's my hometown team!!!!

Blame Rask???? yeah right. He was stellar the whole series. The Bruins got out-everythinged after the first 15 minutes or so in the first period. Horribly lazy play by marchand leading to goal#2, Pasternak fanning on shots and falling down left and right as if he was drunk. Horrible little flip passes right thru the middle of the ice. Poor effort clearing the defensive zone. I hate the Blues so I was cheering for the Bruins, but they got it handed to them in a huge way last night by a team that played like they wanted it and wanted it a lot more.

I have a ton of respect for the Bruins.
They play hard, they play as a team, they know how to win and they have great veteran leadership from Chara, Bergeron, Krejci, young good players like Mcavoy and Debrusk.
I am happy however to see Marchand so devastated . His cheap shots over the years leave me with no respect for the little weasel.

“It’s a heartbreaker. It’s tough to describe,” Marchand said. “You know, they just took our dream, our lifetime dream from us, and everything we’ve worked for our entire lives,
- Anthony Travalgia

Didn't he already realize that dream in 2011?

One person I feel bad for is Chara, though. Dude stuck it out harder than most players would and I haven't read any reports, but that may have been his final game.

Z has already signed a contract for next season.
Marchy was referring to the team as a whole.
Side note: I'd rather have Gudas if I were you guys. Plus, retaining $?

Rask is the guy I feel for. This fan base is plagued with (frank)ing morons who don't what they're watching and blame him for loss. These are the same poop heads taking snipes at him all season long, every year. The one game he needed the forward core to show up they vacated. 0.0

Gudas is a decent 3rd pairing guy with a physical edge and little to no puck skills.
Niskanen, even at 32 and with declining stats, is a better skater and puck mover.

I don't like the money retained one bit (we have $31 still in cap space and it's just 1 year), but given the choice, I'll take Niskanen over Gudas.

If you score 1 goal with 3 minutes left and playing 6v5, it doesn't matter whether the goalie lets up 1 or 500 goals.

Noted Rask basher here!
Since his LOA he's been a different guy.
Can't blame him imo.
Gotta make the big saves in the big game though.

I actually had a feeling that if they had won the Cup that he was going to retire...even now it wouldn't totally surprise me.

Not the same game I watched.
Binnington was the ONLY reason it wasn't 5-2 at the end of the 1st.
And I expect a report any day now stating that Pasternak has an injury to his shoulder or arm. He never misses those one-timers.
