In LeBruns latest Athletic piece, he mentions the Jets may be listening on Ehlers to move salary, would you offer Maatta + 2019 1st? Is it enough to get it done?

I highly doubt that gets it done. According to LeBrun the trade would be for a dman, like you said, but if they are looking for a possible replacement for Trouba the only player who would remotely interest WPG would be Schultz and I'm sure other teams would offer younger dmen or at least ones that aren't pending UFAs.

Well I first thought of Schultz but the pending UFA status led me to OM, but yes I understand my proposal was sh!t

I don't think it's a poop proposal. Maatta just isn't the type of dman I think they'd want. If they do move him, I could see a dman + pick going the other way.

How many series from 2010 - 2015 did MAF steal? Here is the simple answer: NONE. Revisionist history again by flower apologist. If he was so great at stealing series the Pens would have won more than one Cup during the time he was the starter here. And yes Murray was the goalie who won it in 16 and if Sully didn't get his butt on the bench in 17, the Sens would have been in the finals.

He really stole that series this year again SJ right? Here is MAF at his best:

Fluery is still proving he’s a better trendy buddy. The 16 run any half decent goalie would have won. 17 Murray wasn’t great by any means. I think Murray’s a perfectly fine goalie but his best value to the team would be in a trade at the point. Let Jarry and Desmith battle it out.

I’m fine with that. I’d rather give the money you’ll spend on an extension for Murray toc find a top 6 winger like Zucker. Jarry is ready to make the jump.

To put in perspective how good Murray was this year this stats should speak for themselves.

At the end of November he had a 4.52GAA .850%

He finished the season with 2.69GAA .919%. His GAA was average, but the SV% was good enough to be 10th best in the NHL. Do you understand how good you have to play to pull your numbers from depths of poop that Murray had?

His High-Danger SV% was .844. To put that into perspective of goalies who played 50+ games:
John Gibson had .852
Bobrovsky had .853
Rinne had .875

Murray is in very good company. This imaginary "series stealing" stat is really a bunch of poop. Murray has absolutely been a main factor in some of the series they won.

The other thing about a goalie stealing a series is your team still needs to score, i.e. this past series with the Isles. Allowing one goal is only useful if your team can score two.

And those who compare him to Fleury, let's not forget this year's series where he allowed four goals in less than five minutes. I don't care if it was a 5min major. The Knights AND Fleury blew it big time. So for ever series a goalie can "steal" they can just as easily lose it for you.

This is not to disparage Fleury. I'm simply using him because people keep comparing them. Even the best goalies in the world are going to let you down.

Murray is a way above average goalie and the Pens should absolutely keep him.

Sorry for the WSCteton length post. This has just been bugging me.

To hope you can just got out and sign a goalie who will have another surprise year like Lehner or Mrazek is a foolish gamble. Not when "the window" is closing anyway.

Murray's contract wouldn't be an issue if they Pens didn't have contracts like JJ and Gudbranson.
