Or we could trade those two picks this year for immediate help. Would that salvage the trade somewhat? - mhp

If pick 31 can turn into JT Miller somehow
JT Miller
Thompson
2nd rounder
For ROR is far from the worst trade ever. - OneKaneOneCup
That would help certainly. I might think differently here but I'm not sure we do a trade with TB. Just a gut feeling. |

I think with 31 and 2021 2nd is not necessarily looking at the past because we still have those picks that could be dealt for improvements.
And I didn't know this was ego driven. |

I hope not. I want nothing to do with Callahan as a 5.5 million dollar healthy scratch or 4th liner.
Cally - Sobotka - okposo line .....15 million dollar 4th line That’s bad. Really bad. |

I guess Kieffer Bellows was terrible for Bridgeport this year - OneKaneOneCup
Bridgeport wasn't very good this year. Maybe it was more the team he was on then anything.
edit- team was good, he must have sucked. I stand corrected. |

Trades of the magnitude some throw around here with TB doesn't happen often within the division. I still feel Risto should stay. Long term I like the RD of Risto and Montour. I'm also hopeful that Ralphie can help Risto. |

How are your US Open picks doing Irish? I had Rory, Woods, DJ and Cantlay, not too good. |

How many years do we have to hear about the great prospects we have.
Get good established players now. You have the cap space, use the following drafts to restock the farm system. - ImThatGuy
Every scout and GM is so scared to gamble on losing on trading a top 10 pick. The old , if they turn out to be a superstar, the ridicule outweighs the reward. A number 7 has a pretty low percentage of becoming a good NHL player. If you get a great offer, trade. I agree. |

Yup I agree. You trade Risto .... you have a major hole in your defensive lineup
The d that need to be moved or shouldn’t be on this roster are
Scandella
Nelson - he can be our 7th d
Hundwick
Bogo
McCabe shouldn’t feel comfortable. I know / think he has another level he can play at. But he normally gets hurt. |

I think Scandella gets moved this summer for a pick. McCabe could be a piece in a trade as well.

Sabres should be all over Winnipeg right now.
They are moving out a few forwards and maybe Trouba to keep Laine/Myers and others.

Not a thing about you but seems backward to me. For the relative caphit/production you’d think they should be try to move Myers and keep Trouba

Oh they absolutely should, but I think the Trouba-Winnipeg relationship is over and they know he doesn’t want a long term deal there. |

Maybe, but that was tried and failed miserably just a few years ago. I'd much rather get as many good prospects in here as possible and let's home-cook a winning team. Not quick or sexy, but low-and-slow like a great rack of ribs. |

Winnipeg, Minny, Vegas and Calgary seem like teams willing to shake it up this summer. We don't have a lot of great tradeable pieces but McCabe could be a player teams would be interested. He won't cost much either.
I would rather offer a pick and a top prospect for Roslovic. I wouldn't mind seeing McCabe as a piece for Zucker.
My guess is we'll see 2 trades this summer. One with Vegas and the other with either Minny or Winnipeg. |

So if the two draft picks we got for ROR turn into a top-6 forward and a top-4 dman in 3-4 years (or our goalie of the future), and they help lead us to our first Cup 5-6 years from now, then can we say the trade was even?
Because until we see what those picks become, there is no reasonable or intelligent way to judge that trade. It is simply incomplete.
ROR was misjudged by TM as a main player to build a team around. He was let go by CO for being a problem, let go by us for being a problem, and fell into the perfect spot to be successful on an already-stacked team. Good for him and good for St Louis.
Paula's donuts are soooo good. - LandlordTom
I'd bet everything I have that neither of those things happen with those two picks, let alone both if we draft prospects with the picks.
Late draft picks dont work out very often.

I see that, but there's a voice I hear that says McCabe goes elsewhere and instantly becomes a solid top-4, like McNabb, Zadorov, or (gasp) Pissboy, and the fans in the other city say to us, "thanks for giving us a top-4 for next to nothing".
IMO McCabe is young enough, good enough, and on a sweet deal enough to stay here. Gotta try unload Scands and Bogo first and foremost. |

Trading away good draft picks for established players dont work out very often unless your team already has a solid foundation and some success to build on first, as evidenced by TM's tenure here, and that the Sabres in no way have now. - Mentalorgasm5

No I’m saying he’s not on his 1.6 mil deal anymore.
He seems like he’s going to want a raise and I don’t think he’s worth much more |
