He’s really not bad offensively - OneKaneOneCup
yeah the goals are there, but he hurts your team more than he helps. There are better alternatives. |

I think people are going to have to settle for the fact that we don’t have the assets to pull in all-stars without giving up a Reinhart or 7OA.
I think Risto gets you a good young asset.
Besides that, getting marginally better offensively with Vesey is hardly a game breaker in either direction |

you'd absolutely have to move some contracts. But Id be willing to risk that for Point. - Sabresfan-365
Then we’d be one of those teams that has to give away a young prospect to move said contract/s.
With trading the 2 1sts and Mitts the half stocked prospect shelf gets real thin if you have to give away an asset.
It’s a bad move for Buffalo once you factor in you now have to give Point 9+ mil and you also took on almost 11 mil in dead weight. |

I am fine with trading away pick 7. I just done want to take on a cap dump.
If a package could be made with 7 plus to land Hall (resigned) I'd be all for it. |

It would have to be an extraordinary offer to move 7. There simply isn't enough talent in the system right now. |

We must remember the ages of our actually good players are all under 23. Jack is going to get better, Dahlin (I think) will surpass him and Mitts will be legitimate soon.
We probably can't trade for McDavid any time soon, but judging by what it cost us to acquire Skinner, I wouldn't be too worrisome. There are a lot of teams with cap issues this summer, we have 2 1sts to play with and a GM on the hot seat...things will change. |

You're right, but right around Couts, you have to think about it IMO. |

I agree with this. We need talent on cheap contract. Lets not Murray this up. |

Are these all GMTM's alternate accounts on here today?
He has been roasted for 2 or 3 years for trying to force the rebuild through shortcuts.
Say what you will, but the players he brought in were top quality for their role...
-ROR, very good 2 way center, role was to insulate Jack for a couple years, Conn Smythe winner, Sylke nomination, frustrated and cried about losing, in turn he was banished
-Kane, role was to finish, bring some toughness, and be defensively responsible. Got caught looking at a young girl's ass...was banished
-Lehner, assume the starting goalie role after recovering from an intense concussion, lost his way and unfortunately turned to drugs and alcohol, fortunately turned his life around.
-Okposo, FA to add scoring touch, leadership on how to play the right way. Severely concussed, adverse reaction to recovery meds, just not the same since
All at the expense of futures and significant cap hits, left the prospect cupboard dry.
And now we have seen here to
-trade 7-OA
-trade 31-OA
-trade 2020 1st
-trade 2021 2nd
- consider a deal to trade 7-OA, 31-OA, Mitts

Every asset has a price other than Dahlin and Jack at this point.
You don't sign Skinner to play the long game. If that was the case, let him walk and tank another year. Get a shot at Lafen and go from there. |

It has to be looked at on a deal by deal basis. You can't just say, don't trade any futures!
I think we all know that he's not trading 7, unless someone blows his socks off.
31 should absolutely be in play, but not for a goalie, which was Murray's mistake.

Sabres twitter hot takes are getting extreme.
Jimmy Vesey can score goals, and do it effectively in a middle 6 role.
He’s terrible on defense. So are a ton of other players.
He makes 2.6 mil.
How is this a bad move if he’s relatively cheap? |

If he didn't want to sign here as a UFA once, why would he the second time around? Not interested in him as a 1 year rental.

Yeah i don’t disagree with that part.
The calling him terrible part is so baffling.
Someone on twitter said, why trade for him instead of just promoting CJ Smith??
Like, we know Smith is better than Vesey already? |

I still have no idea if Smith is more than a depth player. JB hasn't given us reason to think that he is. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets flipped this offseason.
Vesey plays mostly RW. That alone would be a big help.

IMO, realistically this year Bott's doesn't have a ton of flexibility.
He'll have about $11M in Cap after the Skinner signing and has some more players to sign as well.
In FA, he'll be limited to a couple/three signings...probably guys in the $2-$4m range.
O/S's, I don't see it from Botts with Sam, Risto, Montour, Mitts, etc on the horizon as potential payback targets he would need to address.
If Risto isn't being moved, welp ain't much for other teams to gush about. Maybe a couple lower-than-higher level moves. An older 2C for a couple seasons...like Staal from Minny (not so much specifically him, but something like that)
All told, maybe 3 -5 new players from outside to help shore-up the middle six.
I think we limp again next season into the 80 - 85 pt range...unless Ralphie-boy and his staff can
Motivate the roster to play like a team...we saw glimpses of it during the 10 game anomoly.

You get one player with pick 7, if you trade for someone like hall or point, youre only dreaming to draft a player that good. |

Friedman says the Sabres have been the most aggressive team in trade talks. One team they've spoken to is the NYR....about Jimmy Vesey.
