Trouba's value is head and shoulders above Kadri. To help Toronto acquire Trouba is suicide
- jcragcrumple

I think you're being a bit dramatic.

Kadri has had a pair of 32 goal seasons.

Trouba had a good last season.

Before that he had borderline stats.

Risto 3 straight 40 point seasons.

Seems pretty even among the 3
Trouba is going to be making more $

Winnipeg is said to want a 1st round pick and 2 legitimate prospects for Trouba.

GAR ranks him behind Larsson, Mittelstadt, and Pilut. He's a net negative off the PP.

Of course, GAR ranks Skinner, Pommer and ERod ahead of Eichel at 5v5. It has serious issues.

I’m not a GAR/WAR fan but I was talking about Maata

Trouba just broke out in his age 24 season, which is when d men start to peak. He just turned 25.

Kadri's best days are almost certainly behind him when he will be 29 to start the season. He did great with Marner for his 2 30 goal seasons but he won't have that here.

And Trouba gives tml what they desperately need: a top pair RHD.

Again, it's divisional suicide for the Sabres. I get that you covet toughness, but that's a terrible idea for us

Missed that. I just assume 'he' always refers to Risto or RoR. It works most of the time.

His most common linemates from his two 32 goal seasons were Patrick Marleau and Leo Komarov

Is that from Dobber? I'd be very interested to see that link, and I'd be interested to see if his production lines up with that, or if it disproportionately skews toward his time with Marner

He played 1500 minutes with Komarov, 700 with Marleau and 500 with Marner

In that time he scored

Goals

19 w/Komarov
15 w/Marleau
7 w/Marner

Assists

22 w/Komarov
15 w/Marleau
10 w/Marner

These are 5 on 5

I covet consistent 40+ point defenseman that play with toughness.

One year break out or blip on the radar

Any injury concerns between trouba and risto?

Risto has consistently played big minutes and games.

Trouba not so much

His Points per 60 are nearly identical between Nylander/Marner/Marleau

But he wouldn't have any of those guys here. He'd have Olofsson and either Sheary/Okposo/Pominville, none of whom are that good. And he's 3 years older than 16/17. Even disregarding that, it doesn't account for the detrimental impact of Trouba playing for a divisional rival. It's a bad idea all around

If Toronto really wants Trouba they don’t need our help tbh.

They have more desirable assets than we do

That works for me as well. I think the sabres can trade Risto for forwards 25 or under that mesh better with the core. If Toronto makes that work on their own, good for them. The sabres shouldn't be in the business of helping them

I’d prefer that. I also wouldn’t turn my nose up to Kadri.

But of course our opinions on 55 are vastly different

I'm really not a Risto fan boy. He's a 24-year old, 2nd pair RHD PP specialist with toughness and a tendency for boneheaded defensive plays

Well the advanced stats people seem to be all over the place

WAR/GAR has him ranked high, the guy that does the heat map/shot visuals has him as below average.

- OneKaneOneCup

WAR/GAR has ROR as a super hero too.

This is not an ROR post, just a player who is very much overvalued by WAR/GAR.

We were helping ourselves too, by acquiring a solid 2c with some snarl and not breaking the bank.

Toronto wouldn't trade with us directly, but they have similar value I imagine

Toronto getting Trouba helps them more than Kadri helps the sabres, and it's not even close

I'd say that based on the items in bold that are part of the key components of GAR below are why ROR is a god there, and why the stat is an incomplete one. It almost seems like it was designed for O'Reilly specifically.

even strength offense, even strength defence, power play offense, penalty drawing, penalty taking, and faceoffs
