So ? If you can teach Ov how to play D you can do the same with laine and he will score 45-50 a year - gerbe75pts
Oh I’m sure he will get better as time goes on at D
But let’s not pretend Ovi is winning the Selke.
You’re getting Laine for goals |

1 dimensional player that has been moved down the line several times
but I don't hate it, esp with pp goals and team speed needing to be improved
he would be a core piece moving forward, perhaps the end of reinhart as a sabre - homiedclown
I’d rather keep Reinhart |

Ovechkin didn't learn to play D. He just scores consistently enough at all game states to make it worth how useless he is defensively.
Laine hasn't been doing that in recent years. |

laine is interesting - homiedclown
Botterill seems pretty aggressive, the Laine one may not happen. Seems the Jets think Trouba is " Drew Doughty" for what they are asking for him. There are a few players like Zucker, Toffoli and Vesey they are looking into I was told. Riley Sheahan may be another for the 3rd or 4th line. |

both , that's why Botterill was just poking around, Laine thinks he's a 10 mill a year player. |

Sounds like the end of Girgs, Larry, Sobotka and possibly Sheary? |

Laine’s 3 seasons in the NHL he’s scored 36, 44, and 30. He will only get better as well. The issue with Laine, much alike Skinner, is that it will be a lot of dough for a one dimensional player. |

Skinner has a "dog on a bone" mentality. Not sure Laine does |

Lol. I deserved that for sure.
The wording should have been,
Isn't that how they have deployed Risto that has enabled him to get his high offensive numbers?
As 1st pairing with lots of PP1 Time. |

Not even remotely true.
I get you like Risto but that’s asinine
Karlsson is fantastic.
Ristolainen can’t out produce Bogosian - OneKaneOneCup
Karlsson at 8 years for $88M is...not so fantastic. |

I haven't heard anything about any buyouts with the Sabres and Sobotka and or Okposo. I think Sheary stays, Botterill know's there is no way he can go into next season with the same roster or close to it. |

My pants would fly off if we somehow landed Laine. |

I think he was just asking regarding Laine because that's the right thing to do however, he will cost a lot and I don't think they are looking another another 9-10 mill a year player, at least not yet. |

They don't have to extend QO on Girgs and Larry, if they choose. I think Larry goes to Sweden next year anyway. No reason to buy out Sobotka with 1 year left. I could see Sheary staying or maybe he's used as trade bait if they acquire Vesey. |

The is "anyone can play PP" falacy as promoted by James Tanner. Being good at the PP is a skill, a skill that Risto has - jcragcrumple
And the corollary is that everyone on the PP isn't necessarily good at it. Just how good Risto is at is open for debate. Is he a top 15 PP D in the league? Probably not.

he had 13 goals at 5v5 this year. That's less than ideal |
