Depends on which way you slice him.... He is only 34 but has 13 NHL seasons under his belt already. He has a decent list of injury history. Missing parts of 6 seasons. he is only a ~26 points per season player typically.

But overall rating he was graded as the #21 LD in the NHL last season.



Dahlin was #63 in LD while Risto and Montour were #35 and #32 respectively.

People want Laine... but he plays too much Fortnight. Has a 2.39 K/D ratio which is'nt good enough for sabre fans.

Botts has called numerous times on Vesey which people think is a good idea for some reason.

EK got a huge 11M AAV for 8 years so now everyon is deciding who from their roster the Sabres should sign at pennies on the dollar.

FYI - SHARKS just gave up their 2021 1st to the Sens for resigning Karlsson.

There are a couple of guys I rated too low perhaps...
Risto is a tweeter 2nd / 3rd pairing if "optimized"
Pilut will probably be a 2nd pairing, but he has more development to get there.
Bogo and McCabe are 2nd / 3rd pairing tweeters, injuries make them "?"

But the overall point remains...they need to fill out line 2 to push others down to where they should effectively play. Same with top pair RHD, allow Dahlen to grow into the 1st pair LhD.

They certainly don't need to acquire 17 new guys.

He's an RFA that's been injured. He has upside, but if it helps the Sabres improve I have no issues.

If we can get a nice deal out of San Jose with LaBanc, or Meier, I would also sign up for that.
