The thing that gets me is most people saying "7 is too good to trade," but then you bring up names to trade 7 for, and people say "team x would be crazy to accept 7 for that player" - jcragcrumple
Which is why 7 isn't getting traded
Brayden Point is the only player that I see a team potentially moving that I would move 7 for but it doesn't work cap wise (assuming Callahan is coming with). But I also don't see Tampa moving him.
Who else would you think you would trade 7 for? |

I don't see most of this traded. Botts wants young players that they can develop so guys like Olofsson, Asplund, 7OA aren't for sale imo. The others possibly but I don't know what we could get in return. Nelson and Smith have zero value, Nylander has some. The 2020 1st could be a piece along with 31. I'm just not sold on the idea we are gonna get guys like Zucker or others for our junk. - mhp
We got 30 goal scorer Jeff Skinner for Cliff Pu, a 2nd, and a 3rd.
NEVER FORGET. lol |

Laine, Marner, Kucherov
Vegas in a package for Karlsson +
There are so many players I’d move that pick for |

It could work. They would need to get creative with Hunwick, Scandella, Bogosian, Sobotka, and/or Okposo, or not acquire anyone else with a big cap hit. I don't think Tampa would take that offer though.
That capfriendly had us acquiring Zucker too, wouldnt be able to do that 5.5 million. |

Marner is going to cost 7, 31, next years 1st plus
Laine is one I could potentially see but again the contract comes into play
Kucherov isn't going anywhere, not to mention the cost to get him would be more than it would take to Marner
Karlsson plus is something I would consider but not for 7. Vegas is in cap hell so you're getting a cap dump with him so that takes 7 off the table |

Getting creative short term can hurt long term when it comes time to re-sign Dahlin.
Would you rather get one stud player this off season or get 3 solid players that can improve the entire team?
That is the real question. |

Idk who is available. Trouba, for one (picked 8th, for the record). With Dahlin's partner set, you can then trade Risto for forwards

Trouba is a possibility I still think he ends up in Detroit |

Consistently worrying about three years down the road means you are never going to win |

Not looking at it long term gets you in cap hell like Vegas who is going to lose at least one major piece of their team without the Championship.
Same goes for Tampa |

Gotta restock the nhl farm team somehow - BeadyEyedDouche
Why?
The farm team exists to provide good players to the NHL club. If you can skip the farm club step with a first rounder trade for an NHL player, the outcome is the same as restocking the farm club.
If they want to get a better product in Rochester, they should try hitting on a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th round pick, which the Sabres have largely proven incompetent at doing |

Okposo and a pick/Prospect will go to Seattle.

This is totally right. Sign as much High end talent that you can and figure out the cap later. if we do sign a Duchene and winger, god willing we have a cup within the next 2-4 years. If we do, does anyone really care if we have to go into cap jail? I know I wont....
I would glad trade 1 CUP for 5-10 years of crap hockey... |

Trouba might be a very good player but not only giving assets for him but then he wants 8.5M AVV supposedly. Those two things combined is just too crippling IMO.

So never acquire anyone ever then?
Next Year you have contracts up.
The year after that you have contracts up
The year after that you have contracts up
Any player you draft this year is up in 4 years.
And you have to worry about how much to pay them.
So really you’re just in contract hell always |
