To me Skinner and Laine are the same player. Skinner scores more 5v5 cause he is a volume shooter and is more opportunistic. Laine scores goals because he has an absolute cannon. They are both in the top percentile in terms of goal scorers in the league but bring absolutely nothing else to the game.

Skinner also draws a ton of penalties and is sort of a "pest-lite."

Again, I’d take Laine long term.

But Reinhart was better this year and that’s not really debatable.

Like I said that’s not really a hot take.

Laine has been mentioned in the rumor mill by multiple people for reasons. He’s a one trick pony

- OneKaneOneCup

Laine is coming off his worst season. I'd still take him over Sam today, without a second thought.

If Patrick Laine stops playing fortnite he will pile up rocket trophies and be a 90 -100 point player

But with time he will outgrow it so trade for him now

Yeah you keep saying this about Skinner and it’s just not true.

Jeff Skinner since 2016-17 has drawn the 5th most penalties in the NHL with 75

Laine is 152nd with 32

That’s close to a 10 goal difference right there

Laine is truly one dimensional

Skinner has multiple things he’s elite at

Keeping Skinner and possibly getting Vesey is a win, win in my book.
- SABRES 89

Vesey just had 35pts in 81games

But u weren’t a fan of Compher’s 32pts in 66games, which would’ve equaled 39pts if he’d played 81games

Seems to me like they’re 2 guys that will produce around the same
Maybe Compher even has more room to grow bc he’s a couple years younger

Is there something about Vesey that makes u like him?
I didn’t watch much NyR games,
but he didn’t seem all that special to me

He's coming off a 30g 50p season though. A team would be banking on him going 40g 70p next year, which he could do. Idk, curious timing for me. A 2 year, $7.5m per bridge would make way more sense to me than 7/$70. I wouldn't commit that kind of cash at this stage
- jcragcrumple

Sure... that makes more sense
But doesn’t it also make sense for Laine to ask for top dollar for long term?

It’s like the Nelson all over again.

Vesey is a UFA.

He signed at 23, years of service went out the window.

He had 17 goals (3 more than Okposo)
Not like I’d hate it,
But we should aim higher

Especially since he can just walk after this year

That’s not saying much
And how much better is he than Sheary?
Or even Okposo?

Maybe u guys are seeing something I’m not?
17goals doesn’t get me all fired up
I think we need to go after much better players

Only reason I don’t hate it is because he scores mostly ev strength goals.

Give him some pp time and time with Jack and I feel he’s more of a 25 guy.

We need to score more goals, he and Laine point in the right direction.

Laine is going to cost in both assets and cap. That is the only issue.

Now if you can lump and Laine and Trouba in the same deal with Risto going the other way, I feel it points us in the right direction.

Well he’s 3.725 a yr cheaper than Okposo so that makes him exponentially better than him

I’m not sure how you can make money off of them but these aren’t hot takes outside of the fact that I thought O’Reilly was over rated.

Not one smart person will tell you Ristolainen is good.

Only people who think hitzzzzz are still super important

- OneKaneOneCup

I agree,

Risto is a really good hockey player.

Isn't everyone expecting a top 6 forward in return if risto is traded?

A top 6 forward is really a pretty good hockey player?
